PostSubject: Statement Analysis: What is a Reliable Denial?   Mon Mar 14, 2011 10:49 pm

Statement Analysis: What is a Reliable Denial?

by Peter and Heather Hyatt

Lying is stressful upon an individual, so a deceptive person will usually withhold portions of information in order to accomplish the goal: deception.

Thus is the case of denials.

A deceptive person might say a great deal about the accusation, without ever coming to a specific and reliable denial.

In Statement Analysis, what is a reliable denial?

A reliable denial is just what you think it is:

It is first person singular, past tense, and specific, and must come from the subject, freely using his or her own words, and not the words of the interviewer.

"I didn't steal the money." "I did not kill my son."

If this is found, unprompted, and from the free-editing process, it is highly reliable.

The accusation is presupposed if there is suspicion of guilt. The subject does not need to be asked, "did you take the cash?" when everyone is pointing at him. If he freely offers this, first person, past tense, event specific, it is likely that he did not take the cash.

If, on the other hand, it comes from reading an article like this, or by simply reflecting back the language of the interviewer, it is not reliable and other evidence must be viewed. A subject can be coached into making this as a formal statement.

But in the course of an interview (or even several interviews), it is the easiest and most natural thing for an innocent subject to say. It is also one of, if not, the first thing an innocent person says.

When the Atlanta bombing took place, Richard Jewel spoke, without sensitivity indicators, and said, to anyone who interviewed him, "I didn't do it" with ease. He did not need qualifiers, nor additional words.

Hailey Dunn was reported missing on December 28th, 2011. As of March 14th, her mother, Billie Jean Dunn, and her live in boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, have given many interviews to both radio and television audiences, local and national.

To the surprise of many, even after failing polygraphs, they continued to speak out, with Billie Dunn offering that she does not have an attorney.

But in all of these interviews, in all the denials about drugs, child pornography, etc, not once have either Billie Jean Dunn nor Shawn Adkins given a reliable denial.

Lying causes physiological reactions in the human.

Lying by withholding information is less stressful.

Everyone has their own internal dictionary. If I say "girl", some of you will picture your daughter; others may picture a pink ribbon at a maternity ward; another may picture a Norman Rockwell portrait, while still another thinks of abuse.

A skillful interview seeks to enter into the internal dictionary of the subject, for understanding. Unless the right questions are asked, even the polygraph can be fooled.

Everyone edits. The editing process is something we all do, each day of our lives. We do not tell everything we know, or everything that happened to us in any given day. This is why the open ended question, "What Happened?" is the most important question. Let the subject speak. Encourage the subject to continue, only reflecting back the language the subject utilizes.

"I didn't do it"

When we ask the opened ended question, we allow the subject to use his own words (See the "Green Beans Law" in McCann interview, part 3)). We may reflect back the subject's words, but we avoid giving any information at all.

Premise: in an open statement, rarely ever will the guilty say these words:

"I didn't do it".

It is ridiculously simple.

It is something that just has to be tested to be believed. The guilty person will go to great lengths, and say almost anything, just to avoid the internal stress of saying these 4 simple words, including the contraction, "didn't". In fact, Reid Institute has found "I did not do it" to be less reliable, and more sensitive, though we will have the more formal "did not" most often when the subject thinks he or she is not being believed.

"Did you do it?"

"No, I didn't do it".

This is reflective and not part of the open ended, unprompted "I didn't do it" that is remarkably reliable. In fact, we always note reflective language as it is less stressful on the subject to lie using the language of another.

"Did you steal the woman's purse?"

"No, I didn't steal the women's purse" is reflective

Prompted, the guilty can lie by reflection.

Take this simple principle of open ended, unprompted "I didn't do it" and LISTEN carefully for these words.

Watch how far a subject will go to avoid making the simple denial.

Shawn Adkins was named, early on, as a "suspect" or "person of interest" in the "criminal investigation" into the disappearance of Hailey Dunn. This now becomes the 800lb gorilla in the room, at each and every interview, as people wait for him to say "I didn't do it. I didn't cause Hailey's disappearance."

He hasn't said these words once. This would be the easiest of all:

First person singular, past tense, specific.

BUT in an open ended, unprompted, free speaking statement, if you find the subject to say "I didn't do it", the odds are very heavily weighted that the subject didn't do it.

Going from December 28th, 2010 until March 14th, 2011, without a single reliable denial tells us what we need to know, confirming all the analysis done.

It may be that once this is read, a "I did not do it" may be announced, but it will then be subject to the evidence, and weighed in the balances of all the other statements made.

Justice for Hailey.

Hailey Dunn: Authorities Scale Back Searches

Big Country News is reporting that the search for Hailey Dunn continues to "dwindle down".

Thus far, Hailey's mother, Billie Jean Dunn, and her boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, remain the only two "Persons Of Interest" in this now "criminal" case.

Confusion among some remains regarding the child pornographic images found on the computer from Shawn Adkin's mother's home and the memory stick found in Billie Dunn's bedroom.

Sources close to the investigation have reported that pornography was found on the memory stick, but not child pornography, contradicting the report from Big Country News February 25th.

Charges have yet to be filed regarding child pornography and bestiality, though this could change at any time.

Shawn Adkins said "many people" had access to the computer that was at his mother's house and said he was "surprised" at the child pornography, but did not state that he did not download it.

Billie Dunn acknowledging being shown one of the images by police.

Searches for missing 13-year-old Hailey Dunn continue to dwindle down. She was last seen at her Colorado City home on Dec. 27.

According to Colorado City city manager Pete Kampfer, law enforcement is out looking for her only on a "need-be basis." If there are crews available or if there is an area where investigators need to look at, they will search it, he added.

Meanwhile, volunteer groups say they will continue to search for Dunn until they find her, and her family is still working to get the word out.

Clint Dunn and the search group "Hope for hailey" will be at Railhead Trade Days in Colorado City this Saturday with a booth to pass out flyers. A similar booth was set up at the Rattlesnake Roundup in Sweetwater this past weekend.

Bilie Jean Dunn Arrested

by Peter Hyatt

Billie Jean Dunn, mother of missing 13 year old, Hailey Dunn, has been arrested. Charges, thus far, including lying to police, obstruction and drug related charges.

This does not come as a surprise to readers of Statement Analysis, where Person of Interest, Billie Dunn was expected to be arrested.

Last week, we reported that prior to the Grand Jury convening , we would see significant movement in the case, in particular, surrounding the disappearance, whereas criminal activity attending the involvement of Billie Jean Dunn and Shawn Adkins has been noted including drug charges. Any of these may convince Billie Jean Dunn to give up the location of Hailey.

http://seamusoriley.blogspot.com/2011/03/billie-dunn-arrest-forthcoming.html

Last week we reported that she would face charges relating, tonight we learn that she has been charged with lying, obstruction and drugs.

Tight lipped but confident investigators have quietly worked the case, refusing to yield to public pressure and make statements, only acknowledging that the specific Statement Analysis of the case has been accurate, and that movement would be seen prior the Grand Jury who .

Shawn Adkins could be served a warrant on a number of charges; any interference by Billie Jean Dunn would mean an arrest for her as well. This may include child pornography.

This would lead to serious discussion of a plea bargain, given the number of charges she will eventually face.

No plea will be struck without giving up of Hailey's body.

Analysis has shown that Billie Jean Dunn has lied to investigators regarding the disappearance of Hailey.

Analysis showed that Billie Dunn was not repeating a story given to her by Adkins, as she originally claimed, but was the author of the story herself, having orchestrated the ruse, yet Statement Analysis, taken principle by principle without change, indicated deception in specific areas.

When a person is lied to, believing the lie, their own language will not show deliberate deception; but a repeating of incorrect facts.

Not so for Billie Jean Dunn.

The areas in particular have been highlighted in the analysis.

Tomorrow, we will highlight some of the specific areas of deception which will likely prove critical in locating Hailey.

Hailey Dunn Update: Billie Dunn taken into custody

  • March 17th, 2011 10:47 pm ET

COLORADO CITY, Texas -- The mother of missing Texas teen Hailey Dunn was taken into custody Thursday evening.

Reports indicate Billie is being interrorgated by law enforcement and that charges are expected to be released shortly.
The Mitchell County District Attorney's Office told KTAB's Michelle Ashworth that Billie Dunn will face three charges: hindering apprehension or prosecution, possession of dangerous drugs and false report to a police officer.
Bigcountryhomepage.com reported they were told the drugs in question were prescription drugs without a proper prescription. Click here to stay up to the minute on the story at bigcountryhomepage.com.
Scurry County is in the process of serving a search warrant for Adkins' grandmother's home in Dunn.
KTAB's Michelle Ashworth was told by the Mitchell County District Attorney's office that they went to Billie Dunn's house to serve a warrant out of Howard County to Shawn Adkins.
According to the D.A.'s office Billie lied and said he wasn't there. It is reported that Billie Dunn was arrested for hindering an investigation.
Big Country reported officers have removed items from the home of Shawn Adkins' grandmother and that their crews say it's too dark to make a positive identification of what was taken away. Texas Department of Public Safety and Scurry County Sheriff's Office vehicles were seen at the home of Adkins' grandmother in Dunn, Texas.
Bigcountryhomepage.com's Marc Gustafson says other unmarked vehicles were parked outside the home alongside marked law enforcement vehicles at 8:15 p.m. Thurday. They also report that vehicles outside the home were also searched.
Earlier in the evening authorities weren't saying much and had not confirmed the charges behind Billie Dunn's suspected arrest, according to online jail records.
KTAB's Priscilla Luong was told by Pete Kampfer that Billie Dunn was escorted from her home by the Mitchell County District Attorney's office and taken to the sheriff's office Thursday. Kampfer wasn't sure if she was going to be arrested or simply taken in for questioning.
While there is an online jail record, it does not show what Billie is being charged with.
Hailey Dunn was reported missing from her home in Colorado City on Dec. 27.

Law Enforcement Searches Home of Hailey Suspect's Grandmother

Reported by: Bigcountryhomepage.com Staff Reports
Thursday, March 17 2011

Dunn, Texas - As law enforcement in Mitchell County was in the process of arresting Hailey Dunn's mother, officers from Scurry County were searching the home where the only named suspect in the case lives.

Law enforcement executed a Scurry County search warrant at the home of Shawn Adkins' grandmother in Dunn on Thursday.
KRBC's Tim Johnston reports officers took items from the home and searched vehicles on the property. Law enforcement left just before 10 p.m. without making a comment on what they discovered or seized.
Johnston was told by witnesses that authorities had been at the home since early Thursday afternoon.
It's unclear if Adkins was inside the home as the search warrant was carried out.

Hailey Dunn's Mother Arrested on Three Charges

Reported by: Bigcountryhomepage.com Staff Reports
Thursday, March 17 2011

Colorado City, TX - The mother of missing 13-year-old Hailey Dunn remains behind bars Thursday evening after being arrested while law enforcement attempted to carry out a search warrant.
The Mitchell County District Attorney's Office says they went to Billie Dunn's Colorado City home to carry out a search warrant on her longtime boyfriend, Shawn Adkins. During the search, law enforcement said Dunn lied to them. She was taken into custody and interrogated at the Mitchell County Law Enforcement Center Thursday evening.
Shortly before 10 p.m., KTAB's Michelle Ashworth learned Dunn had been charged with hindering apprehension or prosecution, possession of dangerous drugs and false report to a police officer.
We're told the drugs in question were prescription drugs without a proper prescription.
The search warrant that originally brought law enforcement to Dunn's home came from Howard County. The warrant was for a search of Shawn Adkins' body.
Scurry County also served a search warrant Thursday at the home of Adkins' grandmother's in Dunn, Texas.
The arrests don't seem to have any connection with Hailey's disappearance and don't immediately bring law enforcement any closer to finding the missing girl.
Billie Dunn and Shawn Adkins have both been named "persons of interest" in Hailey disappearance. Adkins is the only named suspect in the case.
Earlier this year, law enforcement revealed child pornography was discovered in connection with the case. Pornography was found in the Big Spring home of Adkins' mother as well as one a jump drive in Dunn's home. Authorities say there was child porn on a computer seized in Big Spring. Billie Dunn says investigators told her there was no child pornography discovered on the jump drive taken from her home.
Hailey reportedly disappeared from her Colorado City home on December 27, 2010.

Interviews and Lying: Billie Jean Dunn

Please note that all parties are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. No one has been charged with the disappearance of Hailey Dunn and all speculation is private opinion based upon the statements of those involved in the case, as well as information released by media and by the police. The opinions expressed here, on Blog Talk Radio, and by commentators are private opinions and do not represent any law enforcement, agency or group.

When does an interview end?

For the honest subject the interview is very different than it is for the deceptive, including when the interview ends. Learning the difference can be critical for the investigation.

Principle for interviewers: No one can tell a lie about a lie.

It would mean that the liar is lying about the lie they just told, which would mean that the subject is a liar who is admitting being a liar.

Got that?

Factually: It is rare for anyone to lie about a lie. This is why such questions are asked:

"Have you told me the truth?"

Yes? Ok, why should I believe you?" and the answer is then carefully weighed.

Everyone is asked about their emotions after an interview. It is a vital question to ask. For the honest subject in an interview, there is a natural close to the interview, usually when both the interviewer and the subject stand up, perhaps shake hands, and say "well, ok. Thank you for coming in." The honest subject considers the interview ended. The guilty subject, however, knows the interview is not over until he or she leaves the presence of the interviewer. The guilty remain on high alert. Even in jail, the guilty believes the 'interview' goes on as long as guards continue to monitor her movements. The guilty struggle to relax.

What about the end of the interview?

"How do you feel now that you have finished this Interview?"

"Nervous. Scared. Relieved. I'm glad its over. Tense."

These are all honest answers. It is nerve-racking to be interviewed or polygraphed. Nervousness is natural and expected, especially given the 'human factor' where the subject wonders what the Interviewer thinks.

"Fine. No different. Why should I feel anything?"

These are red flag answers.

The thinking is that if someone is not honest about their emotions, they are likely not truthful in their interview. It is a small detail of common sense used in investigations.

Billie Jean Dunn lied, again, last night, not to protect Shawn Adkins, but to protect herself as police sought to serve a person warrant.

Billie Jean Dunn cares only for Billie Jean Dunn.

The noose is tightening.

Let's hope Shawn's mother, is reading this today.

Billie Dunn lied to police as police told her that they needed Shawn Adkins, face to face. This was a day of reckoning for her where they would now get their shot at Atkins without her around to "answer questions for each other" as she had previously stated.

Billie Jean Dunn felt that this was something serious enough for her to deceive police.

Billie Jean Dunn is a survivor. Her appearance with a 'missing Hailey t-shirt' is arrogant as she watches those do what she refused to do, search, yet knows where Hailey is. It matters not how much money or emotions are spent on Hailey. She is the female Scott Peterson, feigning care over his missing daughter, even going as far as to tell the public that she chose Hailey over Adkins and feigned break up.

But Billie has her reason to protect Shawn, and it isn't the goodness of her heart. Her heart is black, dark and cold with the cruelty of laughing at pain, laughing at the blood shed of others for a hobby;

laughing at children who are sexually assaulted.

Shawn's mother should know well: She is going to pin it all on your son. All of it. Is that what you want? You saw her clever manipulation of your son. You read her well. You know what you must get Shawn to do.

Billie has to protect Billie and whatever it is that police have gathered, including what may have been found in a garbage dump several days ago, she was going to cover for him.

Would she help him escape to Mexico? Would she flee to Mexico with him?

This wasn't a case where Billie Jean Dunn was lying just so she wouldn't be seen with Adkins. She had been seen in public many times with him and she knew that the public saw her (some took pictures) and that police knew. This wasn't a girlfriend protecting a boyfriend from a parking ticket.

This was different.

She was presented with some evidence and she had a reason to lie about his whereabouts. She knows that sooner or later, one of them is going to crack and she must decide if she can bear to wait long enough for it to be Shawn who cracks, throws her beneath the bus, makes a deal, and gives up Hailey. She knew this yesterday when she lied about where he was hiding.

She is arrogant and expects to be believed.

All liars do.

They have a long history of getting away with lies.

Billie Jean Dunn is an addict. We are repeatedly told that lying is part of the addiction.

Later, we will look at what exactly she has lied about.

For now, however, her dwindling number of supporters need to take note that Billie Jean Dunn has been arrested for lying to police, among other things, and faces more charges as investigators work quietly to build a case against her and Adkins.

Liars have a history of being believed and see no reason why they shouldn't be believed on 'big issues' in life. They have grown familiar and comfortable with lying and have become comfortable.

One could say that they have been training for this big moment all of their lives, lying on small issue after small issue, with the self told lie of, "if something really big happened, and I had to, you know, put my hand on the Bible and tell the truth, I would do it."

Not so.

Pilate had a history of political savvy and was known to make his political enemies disappear. He had long practiced the art of lying and deception, so when it came to his big test, the one in which his eternal fate would be sealed, all he could do is arrogantly call for a small amount of water to publicly wash his hands. He knew the One before him was innocent of the trumped up charges but he had weakened his moral character his whole life with lies and deceptions.

One could say that Pilate had been in training for this single moment of destiny, for his entire life.

Each lie that young Casey Anthony told, ignored by her parents, helped contribute to that awful moment, almost 3 years ago, when she would act out her most egregious lie of them all, and call herself "mother" for the last time, to little Caylee Anthony. Cindy and George, by refusing to be bothered to call her on the lies she told in her youth, contributed to that moment. One might say that Casey had been preparing for that moment for her entire life.

Billie Jean liked to tell the public that she was cooperating with police. Some in media bought it, especially those who listened, emotionally, to Billie and felt she sounded sincere. Statement Analysis training says "the subject is dead; the statement is alive" because it is the words chosen that tell us the truth.

Now the same in media know that she lied to police when they came to serve a warrant upon the officially named suspect in the disappearance of her daughter. She lied to them even though she had drugs in the house. She expected to be believed.

"Mind if we look around, Billie?"

"Of course not" she would have to say: She has told the public that she has been cooperating with the police, which is a lie, and she would not want to lie about a lie. We will next view the "lie about a lie" principle, as it applies to Billie Jean Dunn.

With the odor of drugs, police have probable cause to search. There wouldn't be many places for Adkins to hide, which underscores the desperation they both feel as the noose continues to tighten on both suspects.

A warrant for DNA evidence would mean a judge's signature.

A judge's signature means evidence presented, in the form of a sworn affidavit, by police which means that the Freedom of Information Act may allow us to see the evidence.

Next: An example of being unable to lie about a lie in the case of Billie Dunn.

Billie Jean Dunn and Shawn Adkins: Decision Time?

Billie Jean Dunn, faced with $6500 bonding, and likely going through some withdrawals, is faced with some tough decisions now. Big Country news:

The mother of missing 13-year-old Hailey Dunn remains behind bars Friday morning.
Billie Dunn faces three charges in connection to the investigation into the disappearance of her daughter. However, the charges aren't directly linked to the whereabouts of Hailey Dunn.
KTAB's Michelle Ashworth was rolling last night as Billie Dunn was being questioned by investigators at the Mitchell County Law Enforcement Center.
In the clip, Billie Dunn appears upset that she's being taped and asked to be moved. An officer tells her she can be placed back in "detox."

Will any clarity reach her as drugs leave her system? She must now decide if she can be certain that Shawn Adkins will remain as 'loyal' to her, as she was to him, last night. Or, did she lie to police out of self interest?

Does Billie Dunn have a reason why she doesn't want this warrant served on Shawn? It was not illegal for him to be at her home since she has lost her 16 year old son, David.

Shawn Adkins also is faced with decisions.

What was the warrant for?

Is there an image of him with Hailey in which they need verification of body from him?

His family must now attempt to convince him that he needs to think of his own future, at this time, and consider going to the law enforcement and seek a plea. Billie's "protection" of Shawn loses all meaning as evidence grows. He may need to consider:

Any plea will have to include the location of Hailey.

If he doesn't make a deal, does Billie?

The longer she sits in jail, the more she is able to understand what her future is like, as evidence mounts.

Police sought to serve a body warrant on Adkins, and with the seriousness of such, Billie rolled the dice and said he wasn't there; but the smell of illegal drugs allowed entrance where Shawn was found.

Again, Billie Dunn has shown how much she puts Shawn Adkins before anything else, but will this continue?

Police had a body warrant to serve on Adkins. This means that a judge signed the warrant and that there was cause to do so: the cause is evidentiary and tangible.

The quiet, slow, meticulous manner in which law enforcement has conducted themselves should give Billie Dunn, even in withdrawals, reason to think.

It certainly has given Shawn Adkins' family reason to think.

PostSubject: Reporting on Billie Jean Dunn's Arrest   Fri Mar 18, 2011 1:23 pm

Reporting on Billie Jean Dunn's Arrest

Note that commentary are in bold type The short video is at www.bigcountryhomepage.com
as of current time, she has not bonded out (12Noon local)

Colorado City, TX – The mother of missing 13-year-old Hailey Dunn is being held on a $6,500 bond this morning after being arrested Thursday while law enforcement attempted to carry out a search warrant.

The warrant was a physical or body warrant signed by a judge. This means that a judge was presented with enough evidence to sign the warrant. This was likely presented to Billie as they continue to seek to get her to give up the information they believe she has: the location of Hailey and what happened to her. This caused Billie Dunn to make a choice: lie or simply tell police that Shawn is here and let the warrant go forward.

Dunn chose to attempt to protect Adkins from the warrant and lied stating that he was not there, but, in fact was.

It is not illegal for Adkins to be there, nor is it a simple case of Dunn being embarrassed that Adkins had been with her, as they are seen together by locals regularly. Dunn did this to 'protect' Adkins against incriminating himself in the disappearance of Dunn's own daughter. This is something that should erode the already dwindled support of Billie Jean Dunn.

Billie Dunn's arrest has everything to do with Hailey's disappearance and likely has helped the investigation as it tells law enforcement, by her reaction, that she herself has reason to protect Adkins.

Billie Dunn was arraigned this morning; informed of her charges of hindering apprehension or prosecution, false report to a police officer, and possession of dangerous drugs. A judge set her bonds at $1,500 for the false report charge and $2,500 each for the two other charges.

She was escorted in handcuffs and an orange jumpsuit by Mitchell County Sheriff Patrick Toombs (video in player).

We're told the drugs in question were prescription drugs without a proper prescription.

On the police affidavit, we learned that they went together to the ATM machine to make a cash withdrawal to buy drugs. On the Nancy Grace Show, Dunn attempted to deceive Grace by stating that what she had she simply didn't have a renewal for. Grace didn't buy it.

The search warrant that originally brought law enforcement to Dunn's home came from Howard County. The warrant was for a search of Shawn Adkins' body.

This could be for distinguishing marks that may be compared to evidence, or, perhaps, an image from the more than 109,000 images (including child pornography) found belonging to Adkins and Dunn, as this was their "hobby"

Scurry County also served a search warrant Thursday at the home of Adkins' grandmother's in Dunn, Texas.

The arrests don't seem to have any connection with Hailey's disappearance and don't immediately bring law enforcement any closer to finding the missing girl.

If not for the disappearance of Hailey Dunn, police would not be serving a body warrant. If Billie Jean Dunn wasn't worried about the evidence, she would not have lied. It is only due to the disappearance of Hailey that this took place. This type of reporting may be in anticipation of gaining an 'exclusive' interview with Dunn after she is bonded out.

Billie Dunn and Shawn Adkins have both been named "persons of interest" in Hailey disappearance. Adkins is the only named suspect in the case.

Billie Dunn and Shawn Adkins are the only Persons of Interest named in the disappearance of Hailey Dunn. No matter what it is called, or who calls it such, both are suspected in the disappearance of Hailey, and the cell phone records (as well as work phone records) may have already tied them together. Linguistically, we know that Billie Dunn did not repeat a story from Adkins, but owned the story of the 'sleepover at Marybeth's' as her own story, using her own language rather than simply repeating a lie. Analysis of Dunn shows deception.

UPDATE 3:10 p.m.: Billie Jean Dunn admitted this afternoon to lying to police about the whereabouts of her former live-in boyfriend, Shawn Adkins.
After her release from the Mitchell County Jail, Dunn briefly addressed the media outside her home in Colorado City this afternoon.
“He (Adkins) had come over here on his own and I had called his mother to come get him,” Dunn said.
Dunn was asked if she was lying about not knowing what happened to her daughter, Hailey Dunn, who was last seen Dec. 27.
“I am not lying," Dunn said. "Clint (Hailey's father) and I are doing everything we can to look for her (Hailey).”
Dunn's mother posted her bond, allowing her to be released from jail after getting charged with three misdemeanors Thursday evening.
UPDATE: 1:38 p.m.: Billie Jean Dunn posted bail and was released from Mitchell County Jail this afternoon.
UPDATE 11:34 a.m.: The Midland judge who signed a search warrant for Shawn Adkins declines to release information about the warrant. Here is the statement from the judge's court coordinator:
"On Thursday, March 17, Judge John Hyde authorized an evidentiary search warrant for Howard County law enforcement officers in connection with an existing criminal investigation.
"The search warrant is in possession of Howard County officers at this time and Judge Hyde declines to release any information regarding an ongoing criminal investigation."
EARLIER:
Billie Jean Dunn, mother of missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn, has been arraigned by Mitchell County Justice of the Peace James Williams.
Dunn's bond was set at $6,500 and she returned to jail after the arraignment hearing this morning until she can post bail.
Dunn was escorted from the Mitchell County Jail to the Mitchell County Courthouse this morning in an orange jumpsuit and handcuffs. She declined to answer questions from the media.
During the hearing, Dunn was not represented by an attorney and declined to have the court appoint one for her.
Dunn is being held on three misdemeanor charges of hindering apprehension/prosecution (Class A misdemeanor), possession of a dangerous drug (Class A misdemeanor) and giving a false report to a peace officer (Class B misdemeanor).
She was arrested Thursday evening after law enforcement officers visited her home to execute a search warrant on Shawn Adkins, her former live-in boyfriend and the last person known to have seen Hailey Dunn alive.
Hailey Dunn vanished Dec. 27 after reportedly telling Adkins she was going to spend the night at her friend’s house. Billie Jean Dunn reported her missing the next day.
On Thursday, law enforcement officers went to Billie Dunn’s house looking for Adkins to execute the search warrant, but she allegedly falsely told investigators Adkins was not there, which led to the hindering apprehension and false report charges.
The dangerous drug charge was in connection with a prescription medicine for which Billie Jean Dunn did not have a prescription.
Mitchell County Sheriff Patrick Toombs said Billie Dunn consented to having her home searched after telling officers Adkins was not there. When investigators searched the house, they found Adkins and executed the search warrant for him, but Toombs would not elaborate on what evidence was sought or collected.
The search warrant was issued out of Howard County because his mother’s house in Big Spring was his last known address.
Officials also executed a search warrant for Adkins’ grandmother’s home in Dunn, where he had been staying after leaving Billie Dunn’s house in the aftermath of Hailey's disappearance. Scurry County District Attorney Dana Cooley declined to comment on any specifics related to that warrant

Billie Jean Dunn Bonded Out

Without a deal, Billie Jean has bonded out of jail. She now has plenty of time to consider what life will be like for her behind bars, perhaps for the rest of her life.

Awaiting confirmation regarding details, including who bonded her and how much was put up, police continue their investigation. Thus far, neither police nor Billie Jean has spoken out, but we can anticipate Billie having something to say.

PostSubject: Police Affidavit Released to Media   Fri Mar 18, 2011 7:57 pm

Police Affidavit Released to Media

Perhaps shedding light into the court order on Shawn Adkins, KTXS broke the story that more child pornography has been found on other devices used by Shawn Adkins. The FOI Act was used to get the affidavit in support of the order to have Shawn Adkins searched, which led to Billie Jean Dunn's arrest yesterday.

Previously, we had reported that Shawn Adkins has, at any time, up to five memory sticks on his person at any time, as he is obsessed with them, including one that may have been on his key chain. These memory sticks have been said to have on various pornography which may include Billie Dunn herself, in a home made porn video which may include Adkins, Dunn and others. A source close to the investigation reported that the number, 109,000, which has been reported widely in media, is actually "low" as work continued on other devices.

SNYDER, Texas -- According to law enforcement authorities, more pornography – including child pornography – has been found on devices used by Shawn Adkins, the only named suspect in the disappearance of Colorado City teenager Hailey Dunn.
According to search warrant affidavits acquired Friday by KTXS through the Freedom of Information Act, a warrant used by law enforcement in Scurry County on Thursday was specifically intended to look for more child pornography on computers, discs and other digital devices Adkins has been using.

The affidavits stated that pornography has been found on a second computer that Adkins used – and on his personal cell phone.
The files containing the pornography had been deleted but were recovered by law enforcement experts in computer and digital forensics.

This may be the images that he deleted in front of a police officer.

According to the affidavit, law enforcement believes that Adkins was in possession of child pornography, namely visual material like photographs and video footage.

The affidavit confirms earlier reports by KTXS that child pornography was found on a computer at the home of Adkins' mother, where Adkins had access to the computer, and on a memory stick in the home of Hailey Dunn in Colorado City.

Adkins' mother is reported to have attempted to get her son to work a plea deal with law enforcement while attempting to protect her son from Dunn. Advice from family as well as his attorney has gone unheeded as he continued to both speak out, including a radio program, and to be seen with Dunn in public, even while Dunn was denying their relationship.

In the "slack space," or the area of the computer where items had been deleted, the FBI found images of child pornography and other obscene images including adult pornography, deviant sexual behavior and bestiality, according to the affidavit.

The affidavit details that pornographic images were found among deleted e-mail files on Adkins' cell phone and on a computer in the home of Renee Norwood, Adkins' grandmother.

Adkins lived with his grandmother in the community of Dunn, 14 miles north of Colorado City, after he was named a suspect in the Hailey Dunn disappearance in early January. At the time of Hailey's disappearance, Adkins was the live-in boyfriend of Billie Dunn, Hailey's mother.
Adkins' grandmother's home in southern Scurry County is the same home where investigators served the warrant Thursday and took electronic devices. Another resident of that home told authorities that Adkins used the computer "all the time," according to the affidavit.

The family will likely not allow Adkins to continue with his explanation that "many" people have accessed the computers.

The warrant also mentions that two Kodak Easy Share cameras were in the home, and that some of the pornographic images were taken or transmitted via a Kodak Easy Share camera. Investigators planned to seize the two cameras, among the many other devices, looking for more evidence.

The warrant, issued by District Judge Ernie Armstrong in Scurry County, gave law enforcement the right to take cameras, cell phones, computers, printers and other devices that may contain child pornography.

J. Bruce Flournoy, a deputy with the Garza County Sheriff's Office and computer forensics expert, requested the warrant.

This also explains why investigators have not given a case over yet as they continued computer post mortem, a long process within itself, and the fact that they needed to recover deleted items and what was commonly reported that Adkins had at least 5 of these devices on his person at all times. This was his and Billie Jean Dunn's hobby, and we may learn more about the downloading, including how it was done and who paid for it, and whether or not Adkins/Dunn sold or traded any.

In the affidavit, he stated that pornographic images had been found on every electronic device connected to Adkins that law enforcement has been able to search.

Adkins, according to the affidavit, doesn't own a computer and has been using friends' and relatives' computers. All of the other users of those computers, according to the affidavit, deny any knowledge of child pornography on their devices.

This is likely what will be presented to either a jury, should he be charged, or a Grand Jury, where they will see the single common denominator of all the computers: Shawn Adkins.

Another warrant was issued, out of Howard County, but the judge in that case refused to release the search warrant affidavits to the media although FOI requests were made. That warrant is believed to have been for the "body" of Adkins, meaning it was most likely served to obtain DNA evidence.

Note that this could be the DNA reported, or it could be identifying marks on his body.

When that warrant was served, according to documents filed in Mitchell County, Billie Dunn, the mother of the missing teen, reportedly lied about the whereabouts of Adkins.

She was arrested and has since been arraigned and has been released on a $6,500 bond for the three misdemeanors she was held on.

PostSubject: Billie Dunn Admits Lying   Fri Mar 18, 2011 8:15 pm

Billie Dunn Admits Lying

Coming out of prison, Billie Dunn did what Billie Dunn does: she talked, even if just a little.

Billie Dunn admitted to the charge of lying to police about Shawn being in the home. She did not state why.

This can be used against her in the charge, and gave her a taste of what life may be like for her, as the investigation into the disappearance of Hailey continues to progress forward, including the now known affidavit showing that more child pornography has been found.

Sources close to the investigation reported that police had likely many more than 109,000 images to go through and that Shawn Adkins was known to have up to five memory sticks on his person at any time.

Billie Dunn lied to police about him being in the home, although it was common knowledge that he was often there. She gave up custody of her son, David, when faced with the choice of David or Shawn, but this time, she attempted to protect Adkins.

She admitted lying which now means that the taped confession can be used against her.

In this ongoing investigation into the disappearance of her 13 year old daughter, the mother continues to lie.

Billie Jean Dunn has reason to lie.

With the new release of information of child porn, it begs the question: Where does Billie Dunn get the money to buy drugs?

Did she purchase drugs with donations?
Did she and Adkins sell child porn?
The volume is extreme.

Question: What does this affidavit tells us about the status of the case: why hasn't he been arrested yet? It would seem simple, open and shut.

Answer: They are investigating the disappearance of Hailey Dunn.

Rather than arrest him for child pornography, they have been continuing to go through the "hobby" materials of these two, and are building a large case. This may be bartered in exchange for Hailey's body.

The law enforcement involved in this case, from the foot soldiers to the DA's office, have shown poise and quiet confidence, even while Billie Dunn went about manipulating radio hosts and other media.

We may have confidence that they are building a very strong case in which, should Adkins, for instance, not want to tell where Hailey is, he will face the rest of his life in prison. Billie's arrest was just a "warning shot" to her that Adkins is going to be forced to give her up.

She admitted to lying here, but Statement Analysis has shown that she has lied repeatedly about what happened to Hailey.

Even the last of her supporters now must see that while her child is missing: she lied to police about the whereabouts of the named "suspect" in the disappearance of her daughter.

Billie Dunn said that the drug charge is "bogus". Why? Because the prescription bottle did not have her name on it.

When she purchased drugs after her now known ATM stop, did the dealer bother to write her name on the bottle? This is a common response of those who are found with illegal prescription medication; most often pain killers or tranquilizers. Her thin excuse on the Nancy Grace Show did not fly when she said it was a drug she had previously been prescribed. This is the pattern of her lying: She gives out some truth, withholds information, and then returns to giving out small portions of truth.

It's pattern is like this:

Billie Dunn purchases a prescription pain killer off the street, but because it is the same painkiller she had been prescribed several years ago after dental surgery, she says "I just didn't have a refill. It had been previously prescribed."

note that this is 100% truthful, yet deceptive, which is why Statement Analysis must be used in her public statements:

1. She did not have a renewal. This is true. It is, however, not "the whole truth."
2. It had been previously prescribed. This may also be truthful: that once before in her life it had been prescribed. Perhaps last year, perhaps 10 years ago, but the deception is found within truthful statements.

The truth is quite simple: She is a drug addict who's drug use has destroyed her life and she buys drugs on the street, regardless of every having been prescribed anything.

This is her pattern of lying.

The principles of Statement Analysis used in all cases are employed here and this is her way of being deceptive without having to directly lie.

Objection: Why would she blatantly lie to law enforcement about Shawn being present? It is so easy to get caught!

Answer: Billie Jean has a life long pattern of deception. She is a life long liar, who deceives by what she withholds. She has an expectation of being believed, and does not like even being questioned.

She is arrogant and holds the world in contempt, believing that her hurts have enabled her to say and do whatever it is she wants.

How high can this pride go?

This is why someone who caused a child to go missing can not only wear a "Have you seen me?" t-shirt, but actually collect money from people to "help the search" all the while knowing precisely what happened to her child.

It is a female version of Scott Peterson.

Scott Peterson once said he talked to John Walsh, from America's Most Wanted. His voice inflection was confident, and if not for Statement Analysis, listeners may not have known that he was lying, until John Walsh spoke out and said that he hadn't spoken to Scott Peterson, and expressed shock at how bold a liar could be.

So it is with Billie Jean Dunn and her peddling of stories.

By now, Shawn Adkins's mother knows the truth about her son. It may be that she has also seen the lies from Billie and must find a way to convince him to go to law enforcement, and cleanse himself by confession, and break this terrible bond with Billie.

The pattern should continue and as it does, investigators will continue their work. Eventually, somewhere in the path that Adkins took the morning that he quit his job, the remains will be found, in whatever form. It may be then that Billie Dunn and Shawn Adkins, bound tightly together, lying for each other, will face the reality of what they have done to Hailey.

Lying is akin to murder, as the liar is a murderer in training.

Cindy Anthony was wrong about that.

It is the betrayal of life that no one knows how far a liar will go.

Lying in little things means moral weakness for larger challenges , and when tested, will do what training has taught: lie.

A liar who is faced with self preservation will choose self over others.

If love seeks the highest good of others, a lie seeks only the good of self, and puts self first.

What did Billie Dunn do when she put this plan in motion? She tried to get Clint to make the call to police, rather than adding to her crimes with a false report. When police came over, she cast suspicion upon Clint, immediately, to cause trouble for him. She will always choose herself first.

Rather than seek David's highest good, she gave up custody rather than give up Shawn Adkins, because Shawn holds more value to her than her son.

She now protects Shawn Adkins, even to the point of lying to police. She has her reason to lie to police and seek to stop the search warrant from being enacted.

Had Billie Jean Dunn protected Hailey with the same level that she has protected Shawn Adkins, Hailey would be alive today, fulfilling the promise that was her life.

PostSubject: Billie Dunn Says She Has Protective Order against Shawn Adkins   Fri Mar 18, 2011 8:26 pm

Billie Dunn Says She Has Protective Order against Shawn Adkins

Reported by: Laura Kellerman and Priscilla Luong
Friday, March 18 2011

Billie Dunn, whose 13-year-old daughter has been missing since last December, says she has a protective order against Shawn Adkins, her former live-in boyfriend and the only named suspect in Hailey Dunn's disappearance.

Billie Dunn called KTAB reporter Priscilla Luong to inform her of the protective order, saying she had forgotten to mention it in the news conference she gave this afternoon.

Dunn was arrested Thursday night after police came to her house looking for Adkins, and she lied to investigators, telling them he wasn't inside. She was charged with hindering apprehension or prosecution, false report to a police officer, and possession of dangerous drugs. She was released Friday morning on $6,500 bond.

The protective order was filed as a direct result of what happened last night, Dunn told Luong. The filing cannot be confirmed at this time because the courts are closed.

Dunn admitted to lying to police on Thursday night, but would not explain why. She said Adkins was at her house because he wanted to talk to her about something, but she didn't specify what.

According to Dunn, Adkins cannot come near property for a year under the protective order. She said she has no plans to see him again and will not rekindle a relationship with him in the future.

Hailey Dunn: Confusion Over Child Pornography

Sources close to the investigation told us that there was a great deal more imagery to go through in the possession of Shawn Adkins and Billie Dunn, and that Shawn Adkins, himself, often carried about "five devices" on his person, at all times. One may have been on his key chain.

He and Billie Dunn are obsessed with it.

In their recent report, BigCountryNews.com reported that it is too early to tell if additional child pornography was brought in on Thursday evening at the home of Adkins' grandmother.

The confusion may be to the sheer volume, as well as the various law enforcement agencies involved. It is complex.

The search warrant was something that took careful planning.

Billie Dunn knew what they were looking for, no doubt, as she, herself, is in some of the pornographic videos and imagery, along with other women and Adkins, himself.

The perversion encircles this case, on every front.

Billie Dunn continues to speak out, and a profile is emerging of her, which will help the public not only understand what environment Hailey Dunn was subjected to, but what her mother is truly like; rather than what she portrays to the softball questioning of media.

What was the obsession of child pornography and blood lust?

What of Billie Dunn's portrayal of this material as "true crime" reading material, to Nancy Grace?

Why did she lie in an attempt to protect Shawn Adkins one day, and then seek a Restraining Order the next?

Why would she admit lying to police, while talking to a reporter out front of her home?

Why would she call a reporter back, later in the day and say that she "forgot" to "mention" that she got an restraining or protection order against Shawn Adkins? Is an order like this something to be only "mentioned"?

A profile has emerged, even as one emerged for Shawn Adkins, which we will cover in the next article.

It is difficult enough with several agencies working on the case of Hailey's disappearance, but when combined with the extreme volume of material confiscated, it becomes a communication nightmare:

Billie Dunn Says she Filed No-Trespassing Order against Adkins

Reported by: Jessica Reyes
Saturday, March 19 2011

The mother of missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn said she filed a no trespassing order against her boyfriend, Shawn Adkins.

Billie Dunn said investigators found disturbing messages about her in Adkins' cell phone Thursday. She didn't wish to go into detail, but described the content as "threatening."

Dunn said Adkins can't come on her property for a year under the order she filed Friday.

"He made threats against me. I don't think he sent them anywhere. They were just on the memo pad...I got scared and I didn't want him to be able to come over here at all anymore," she said.

Dunn was arrested Thursday after police came to her house looking for Adkins, and she lied and said he wasn't there.

Officials took Dunn into custody and questioned her. She was released Friday on a $6,500 bond.

"They're suspicious Shawn keeps trying so desperately to get back with me because they think I know something, I'm hiding something for him," she said.

Dunn said she has no plans to see or speak to Adkins again.

"Even if by some miracle Hailey walked through the door and he had nothing to do with that, there's too many problems between us now," she said.

Dunn said Adkins hasn't tried to contact her since she filed the order

PostSubject: Is Billie Dunn Still With Shawn Adkins?   Sun Mar 20, 2011 6:16 pm

if (window['tickAboveFold']) {window['tickAboveFold'](document.getElementById("latency-1634210279517432471")); }

Is Billie Dunn Still With Shawn Adkins?

Statement Analysis is in bold type.

Note that she didn't want to go into it, but was willing to categorize as "threatening". This is a pattern for the subject in deception; she appears to have the inability to speak the whole truth on any issue. This should be compared with 10 months before Hailey went missing: Adkins threatened her then, enough to take action and call the police, yet she moved him in anyway. The order may have more to do with his cheating than anything else.

Dunn said Adkins can't come on her property for a year under the order she filed Friday.

"He made threats against me. I don't think he sent them anywhere. They were just on the memo pad...I got scared and I didn't want him to be able to come over here at all anymore," she said.

"He made threats against me" is appropriately past tense. Since the subject mode of deception is known, is this specific to February 2010, when she called police after Adkins threatened her, Clint Dunn and Hailey?
"They were just on the memo pad" Note "just" as reduction. Was Shawn leaving a "note to self" to remind him to harm Dunn? This is likely a message he showed her as the race to make a deal continues.
"I got scared" is past tense; showing that she no longer is scared.
Note the next sentence, however, for additional words. "Additional words" are those in which the sentence will work should they be removed:

"I didn't want"; past tense. She indicates that at that time, she didn't; but not current.

"I didn't want him to be able to come over hear at all anymore" Note "at all" would weaken the assertion, but "at all" is weakened further with "anymore".

This is an indication that the "no trespass" order is deceptive and done for public opinion and not for protection.

Note "so desperately" shows the narcissism that has been evident through many statements
Note that embedded within her words is the ability to say "I know something"
Note that embedded within her words is the ability to say "I'm hiding something for him"

The argument has become between whether or not Billie Jean Dunn is directly involved in the murder of Hailey, or if she has been covering for Adkins. Dunn told us that police insisted that she knows exactly what happened to Hailey and that she knows where Hailey was dumped.

Dunn said she has no plans to see or speak to Adkins again.

Note that we do not have a quote, but it is a weak assertion if words above were used. "I won't see him" is strong; but having no "plans" is different. Plans are made; plans are changed.

Question: Is Billie Dunn still with Shawn Adkins?

"Even if by some miracle Hailey walked through the door and he had nothing to do with that, there's too many problems between us now," she said.

This sentence should be carefully understood. There were many ways to say "if Hailey comes home" but note the words that came into the mind of Dunn:

Even if by some miracle

A miracle is a suspension of nature. It would be a miracle to rise from the dead. Given that the mother, since early January, has spoken of the missing daughter in past tense indicating knowledge of death, the word "miracle" makes sense as she knows Hailey is dead.

Hailey walked through the door

Note that it is not that Hailey is "alive" but that she would "walk" through a "door"
Note that in many statements, doors are associated with sexual abuse, particularly of children

and he had nothing to do with that,

Note that the word "that" speaks (with distance; versus the word "this") to a specific event. What specific event does she refer to, that she wishes to distance herself from? This is another indication of guilty knowledge. It is why defense attorneys keep guilty clients from speaking. Billie Dunn's love of attention has given much information as an entire profile of who she is has emerged.

there's too many problems between us now,

Note the word "us" indicating unity.
Note that it is not that Hailey went missing but the "problems" likely are due to being found out by the public that she participated in the porn video, and that he cheated on her, repeatedly, even outside of the home made porn videos.

As long as there is an "us", there is a couple in the mind of Dunn.

Dunn said Adkins hasn't tried to contact her since she filed the order

Note that this is not a quote, but it does not say that Billie Jean Dunn has not attempted to contact Shawn Adkins.

Just as the use of "we" was evident during the last time that they "broke up", we may know that there is still unity between the two only named "Persons of Interest" in the criminal investigation of missing 13 year old, Hailey Dunn.

Following her arrest Thursday night in Colorado City on three misdemeanor charges, Billie Dunn was released from the Mitchell County Jail Friday afternoon just after 1pm.

Dunn was arrested at her home for lying to investigators about the whereabouts of boyfriend, Shawn Adkins. It’s a crime she admits to committing.

The charge? Filing a false report to a peace officer.

Dunn explained to CBS 7 that Adkins was at her home when Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and asked where he was. Deputies, working with the Texas Rangers had a search warrant relating to Shawn Adkins.

Dunn admits she lied and said she didn’t know where Shawn was at the time. She says moments later she invited investigators inside, at which time they quickly found Adkins.

They also found some form of illegal drug, which led to another charge on Dunn.

She now faces three charges: hindering an apprehension, filing a false report to a peace officer and possession of a controlled substance.

Dunn’s mother Billie, says she wants the focus of the public and the media to be less on her and more on the search for her daughter

Billie Jean Dunn: Covering for Adkins, or Directly Involved?

Is Billie directly involved, or is she covering for Shawn?

"Pat Brown calls everybody a psychopath." I remember being told that years ago, which prompted me to purchase her first book.

Was a serial killer one who murdered for a thrill, but had to have a 'cooling off period' of significance, and then kill again, in order to be declared a serial killer who would, in the future, kill again?

Pat put things simply: if someone enjoyed killing, they enjoyed killing. They may or may not have started out to kill, but if they enjoyed it...

People do what they enjoy.

I've loved Pat's work ever since, and her most recent book felt like a personal invitation into her private life, of how one concerned citizen could make a difference.

Although a Dylan fan since I was about Hailey's age, I had read enough of the trials involving Rubin 'Hurricane' Carter to know Pat's profile on his life (and the movie) were accurate. It was a relief to read her common sense, in spite of Denzel Washington's talented performance. Pat's writing skill made me feel that there was someone else in the movie theater of whom she had exchanged knowing glances; knowing that what was fed the audience was sheer deception.

Perhaps it is time for some to take a sober-minded common sense view of the case of missing 13 year old, Hailey Dunn, divorced from emotion.

Shawn Adkins is a monster. This isn't much debated. I don't know if he has his own "support" page on Facebook, but like any infamous man, he has his share of groupies and followers, as does Billie Jean Dunn. For the groupie, the subject can do no wrong, and they quickly rise to any charge with passionate defense; emotional, but not logical. Remember, Adkins has women who are still willing to have sex with him. With a population of 300 million, there's always someone. That Adkins is a psychopath, or a monster, not much debate exists. Most people saw the blood lust videos and it didn't take much more. When the vileness of child pornography came to light, the public understood that Shawn Adkins poses a threat to the general population, but especially society's most vulnerable: our children.

But what of Billie Dunn?

Does she pose a threat to society? Does she pose a threat to children?

When she was arrested for lying to police in order to protect her boyfriend, Shawn Adkins from being served a 'body warrant', Heather said to me that had Billie Dunn protected her daughter, Hailey, with the same degree of effort that she does to protect Adkins, Hailey would be alive today.

It was a sad reality.

She was arrested for drugs, making a false report, and lying to police...while her daughter is missing.

Who is Billie Jean Dunn? This, of course, may help understand the support she has received since late December, when she reported her 13 year old daughter "missing" to police.

Yesterday, Levi Page, a journalist who covers many cases like this, said with exasperation: "She lies while her daughter is missing!"

Yet, Billie Dunn continues to maintain a relationship with media, manipulates radio hosts, and still continues to deceive with impunity. She has reached a point where she appears unable to tell the truth. Even after admitting lying to police while her daughter remains missing, she does not fear journalists, or at least some. She picks up the phone to call them, and invites them into her home. In an era where information may pass faster than ever before, Billie Dunn is able to find those who will not ask the hard questions, including:

Why would anyone need to lie while her child was missing?

What do we know about Billie Jean Dunn?

For some, hearing about her childhood raises the objection that, somehow, learning what factors came together to form her, will excuse her behavior. This fear comes from the injustices that Americans have seen in courts where one who harms a child gets less prison time than one who harms a pet. It is useful to study human behavior, but it should never excuse behavior.

"None of them have found my daughter yet!" she said with anger, blaming others.

It is the fault of "them" and this makes her angry. She doesn't want this to be about her lying, her drugs, her pornography; only about Hailey. She says she wants the focus off of her and on to Hailey. I can't imagine her saying otherwise.

But, sadly, it is the drugs, pornography and deception that is all about Hailey.

Billie Dunn has deceived many, which, unless you claim supernatural revelation (that which negates or suspends the laws of nature), it is understandable. She is a successful deceiver because she has been at it since early childhood. It was how she was formed. It is difficult for people to conceive that she would either have anything to do with Hailey's demise, or that she would cover up for Adkins.

Dunn has reported to have been sexually abused as a child, perhaps herself as a child prostitute. I believe this to be true. It explains a lot, but excuses nothing. Hailey didn't deserve what was done to her, and this background information may come out, should she be tried, and convicted in Hailey's death, and reach the penalty phase where jurors, should they decide life or death, would hear this kind of information. To date, no one has been charged in Hailey's disappearance, but I believe that some will.

As a child, it is likely that the person responsible for the sexual abuse is the same person of whom great protection was expected: her father.

Those who should have protected her failed to protect her, and this is what she learned: abdication. Just as she was failed by those who should have protected her, she failed to protect those in her charge. It is generational. Why did she 'break up' with Adkins now? If she follows through with it, it is because he betrayed her by cheating, not due to anything related to Hailey; for that, she continues to protect him. Betrayal goes deep into the soul of Billie Dunn, as she demands loyalty from all around her.

Dangerous influences converged together in the life of Billie Jean, forming her into what she became. For Hailey, Shawn Adkins was a monster she feared. But what of her mother? What factors came together and formed her?

For most, the debate is this:

Is Billie Dunn covering for the monster, Shawn Adkins, or
is Billie Dunn directly involved in the murder of her daughter, Hailey?

An answer may emerge as we view what factors played dominant roles in the life of Billie Jean Dunn. We already know about Adkins' love of perversity, violence, and drugs. But what of Dunn?

Is she covering for Adkins, or is she directly involved?

I. Sexual Perversion

This is the perverting of human sexuality and how it shaped the life of Billie Jean Dunn, and how it may have destroyed Hailey.

Why was Dunn attracted to Adkins? What is her "hobby"?

Pornography.

Pornography can be defined as material deliberately designed to elicit a sexual response from the viewer. "Obscene" means "off stage" or private.

Pornography is the sexual display of women, by men, for profit. It is as old as mankind itself. It is about the worst thing for young boys to happen upon, as their view of women, itself, will shape them into how they will treat women when they are older. It is a lose-lose situation for all but those who make money off it.
Bestiality in pornography, is sexual contact with animals, as a means of eliciting a sexual response from the viewer. It means that the viewer is sexually aroused by sexual contact with animals.

Child pornography is that which depicts sexual activity of a child; where the viewer is sexually aroused by pre-pubescents engaged in sexual activity.

Our society recognizes that those who possess this material pose such a risk to children (and animals) that laws have been enacted which will take the possessor, and put them behind steel bars, restricting their access to children and animals, for many years, for the protection of others.

For most of the 300 million citizens, child pornography (the sexually explicit material using children, designed to elicit a sexual response) is something so repulsive that it initiates a reflex of anger and disgust, and a desire to see children and society kept safe from those who would seek to possess such. In Texas, for instance, we have been told that each image carries a sentence of 2 years and up to 20 years in prison. This means that Adkins, possessing just 3 pictures of child pornography, could face a life sentence, at the age of 25.

Child pornography: That which repulses and angers most all of society, arouses the few who seek, possess, view, trade, and sell it.

Billie Jean was likely sexually abused as a child. The vast majority of women sexually abused in childhood, overcome the pain and become good parents, leaving the "excuse" behind.

Few go on to abuse their own children.

For Dunn, linguistic indicators are plain: she was sexually abused and likely exploited in childhood and continued the perversity into adulthood. She learned early how to deceive, not so much by direct lying, but by dropping certain words from her sentences, and avoiding giving direct answers. In this, (and other traits) she shares a similarity with Casey Anthony. Unlike Anthony, Dunn does not appear to fabricate reality in the forward manner of Anthony.

Billie Jean continued her sexual manipulation of men by making money taking off her clothes, before men. For her, this was just another form of getting what she wanted: money, by using sexuality as a means. Later, when Shawn Adkins told police that the 13 year old child, Hailey, was sexually 'promiscuous', Billie Jean shocked the television audience (and host) with her silence. Why didn't she jump down the throat of Adkins and say "how dare you say that about my daughter!"

Answer: What is the norm to Billie Jean Dunn, and what is the norm to most people, are two different things.

The perversion of human sexuality is the norm for Billie Jean Dunn, instilled in her by her father, and propagated in her young life by those around her. Pregnant as a teenager, she was with a man who now is in prison for drugs, who fathered her first child, now abandoned.

Sexual perversion twisted her personality, from an early age, into what it is now, and helps explain why she was drawn towards a monster like pedophile Shawn Adkins.

II. Drugs

Sexual perversion can weigh on the conscience as it takes the beauty of love and turns it into that which is lawless, or perverse. As the conscience is pained by that which is wrong there comes a need to remedy: narcotics.

Narcotic medication is used for physical pain. Chronic pain patients becomes physically dependent upon the medication. Without it, not only does the body return to its original state of pain, but they now go through the viciousness of withdrawal. This can begin, slightly, in as few as 6 hours, but by 24 hours (depending upon the medication and other psychological factors) it can be acute; fever, diarrhea, vicious aches and pains, anxiety, etc.

Drugs and children don't mix.

It doesn't have to be the hard drugs. Drugs and children don't mix. Whether it is marijuana which sucks the drive out of a father to protect and provide for his children, or it is the fast and powerful draw of crack cocaine, drugs and children do not mix. A parent, by nature of becoming a parent, forfeits many rights, including the right to abuse drugs. Just as our courts recognize that a parent is not free to choose any partner (a parent that moves a sex offender into the home, for instance, once known, will likely meet with swift court action by the State, in order to protect the children), nor to choose any lifestyle. A lifestyle of drugs is that which poses jeopardy (on going harm) to children of all ages.

While on the narcotic, the mother, for example, may be in a good mood, pleasant, loving and attentive. But when the narcotic begins its process of leaving the body, the danger to the child increases with each passing hour. This is a time when babies were shaken; just for a moment, and either killed, or left with brain damage for the rest of his or her life. No one plans to shake a baby, it is a momentary loss of control to quiet a baby. It often works. The child ceases to cry, and within minutes, a small amount of gray material can appear in the ears. The child is about to die.

Drugs don't mix with children, not only for the sake of withdrawal, but for the long term jeopardy that drugs pose. When Billie Dunn got into cocaine, she did so to sell. This, just like buying prescription pain killers on the street, invites violence into the lives of children, and is why Child Protective Services gave Billie a choice: either rid yourself of Shawn and Drugs, or we take your son into custody. She instead signed him over to a relative, called a "Safety Plan", in which danger, to a 16 year old (who is capable of self protection) is present, because of the mother. Drug sellers and buyers are awash in violence. Drug trade is illegal and lying and violence attend each transaction, either kinetically, or in the form of threat.

The drug world knows where Billie Dunn lives.

As she has now lost her looks to drugs and age, frustration sets in with sexuality and drugs are used to numb the soul. Although it may be viewed point by point, it all flows together.

III Violence.

The hobby of Billie Jean Dunn and Shawn Adkins is with 'blood lust' videos, scary masks, and sex. Drugs influence each aspect.

Child pornography elicits a sexual response from its viewer, as does bestiality.

It is also violence against children and animals.

Billie Dunn compared it to "comedy". Why "comedy"?

Because it lifts her soul, or what is left of it.

She finds it funny that such violence is done to others, including children and animals. "Stomping" films are where a small pet is "stomped" to death, for the "sexual" arousal of its viewer. Child pornography depicts violent acts against human beings who's bodies are not physically developed to partake in sexual activities, and who's souls (heart; the seat of affection and intellect) are not yet matured to the point of understanding nor appreciating human sexuality). It is violence to the child, even where no physical pain is inflicted. We shall likely live to see a day where MRI's or other scientific advances will be able to show us the damage done to the child's brain. But even without science, the victims know what it does.

Billie Jean enjoys violence against adults, children, and animals. She called it her "hobby" and the violent aspect likely has only increased through the numbing of drugs, and that her age has shown that her body is not what it was a decade ago. Perhaps it is a feeling of 'revenge' for the sexual violence perpetrated against her as a child.

She knew of his pornographic tastes, which is why she lied to police about him. She participated in his pornographic videos and we will learn whether or not they had Hailey participate.

But the odds, sadly, are not good, that Hailey, somehow, avoided this monster Adkins, and his perverse partner, Billie Dunn. Hailey's grandmother's instinct may prove itself out. Hailey feared the monster, and likely felt deep resentment for her mother's lack of protective capacity.

Billie Jean knew he was a dangerous man when she called the police on him 10 months before Hailey went missing. Adkins threatened not only Billie (and Clint) but told police he threatened Hailey as well (strangely, not David). The mother cared nothing but for herself, and had him move back in.

IV. Deception

Each time a new issue has arisen, Billie Dunn (and her supporters) has had a quick and deceptive response. Each time, it is designed to protect herself, even while utterly tossing aside her own children; both David and Hailey.

She has a strong pattern of deception, like a psychopathic personalty, and skillfully avoids given direct answers. She is able to be technically truthful, while being deceptive. Some examples:

'He picked me up from work, we went to the ATM machine and went home.'

Since the topic is not a casual, what's going on in life, but it is: a 13 year old child is missing, lying is particularly egregious and frightening. In the above response, she has told the truth, but just not "all the truth"; that she and Adkins also paid a visit to a drug dealer and bought drugs. When caught, she told Nancy Grace, "it was something prescribed to me"; which may be technically truthful, but it attempts to conceal the truth that she bought street drugs on what may have been the end of her daughter's life. This is how deep her lies are.

When it was revealed that she had scarred her own son's back with burning "tap out" into his skin, she said, "oh, that?", as if she had just recalled some passing trivial event. She then said that her son must have found something in her pockets.

Statement Analysis has shown and highlighted each lie; each deception from her public statements.

But what may have been missed by some is the reference point of deception:

She has been lying while her 13 year old daughter is missing.

If anyone can read that sentence and still support Billie Dunn, they will be unable to accept her involvement in Hailey's disappearance, even should she admit it.

She lies with impunity, and those who refuse to see the seriousness of deception, will not be able to grasp the seriousness of the impact of child pornography, drugs, violence upon Hailey.

When confronted with lying, she admitted it to the press that she lied about trying to protect Shawn Adkins from the body warrant. She had a need to lie. She then lied again when she said she "forgot to mention" her protection order.

If she got an order, either Adkins was at the hearing, or it is only a temporary order in which he will be allowed to speak on his behalf, including asking why she wants one now. He will be able to answer her allegations. After all, she already gave up her son in order to stay with him. It will be interesting to learn what Adkins says to the judge.

She refused to protect Hailey from a violent, scary, perverted monster, because she has a reason to and the protection order, or restraining order, is as deceptive as she herself is. It is a show for the soft headed and emotional media and radio hosts who will continue to give her access to trade in a false currency of lies and deception, without being called on it. The law enforcement who have been working diligently for justice for Hailey listen to this nonsense, day after day, as Billie Jean picks and chooses which media to talk to and which program to participate in; knowing who can be deceived, as well as who will see through her.

How would Billie Jean Dunn do on The Levi Page Show? How would it work out if Levi had Billie Jean and Pat Brown on, together? Do you think you'll hear questions like,

"Hi Billie. Thanks so much for joining us. Thanks soooo sooo much for being so very courageous and answering these difficult questions. We really really love you. Here's my question, and I apologize for asking this, but you know, I have to ask these tough questions. So, here goes: Billie, dear, how are you coping these days without Hailey, your best friend?"

This is the perfect forum for a deceptive psychopathic personality to operate within: where she can continue to function status quo: in deception, without question. She is allowed to say "let's keep the focus upon Hailey" while getting the focus off those who can lead us to Hailey. They buy it, hook, line and sinker.

Billie Jean Dunn has now made the appearance of turning her back upon Shawn Adkins, he being the only "formally" named suspect in the disappearance of her daughter.

She has done this before.

However, a true psychopathic personality feels nothing for others, and it may be that she has a different angle to play: does she feel that law enforcement cannot show possession of child pornography against her, so that she no longer feels the need to protect Adkins?

Adkins' family must consider this carefully.

Shawn Adkins' mother knows of her son's guilt. But she has now seen something else arisen:

Adkins' ability to cast suspicion on other family members as he says "many others" had access to the computers. Adkins' mother now knows that her son will not man up about the perversion but will even be willing to have his own grandmother cast in a light of suspicion of the worst form of perversity known to society. Adkins is a coward.

Child pornography may now be on the computer (or devices) found at his grandmother's house.

Someone is going to go to prison for child pornography.

The apologists say "if they really had child pornography on him, he would already have been arrested."

Oh, really?

Have you ever heard of a case with this much volume?

It takes time and careful investigation in order to prove the child pornography charge and put these perverted and dangerous individuals in prison to protect society from them. The imagery must be proven authentic; not computer generated. It must be proven to be, beyond a reasonable doubt, under legal age. We have heard the age of 10 thrown around, and this is likely true: that Billie Jean and Shawn have been viewing material of sexual abuse of children 10 years of age and under.

Then there is the reported multiple memory items; lots of them. A source reported that he walked around with up to 5 items on him at all times and we are learning that he stored these things in various places.

There was also the deleted imagery which took time to process.

The volume, in excess of 100,000 images shows an obsession or addiction, rather than Billie Jean's description of a "hobby."

This was the environment that Hailey Dunn was subjected to.

As these psychopathic personality traits are considered by the Adkins family, along with the sting of public embarrassment of the restraining or protection order, it may just be that Shawn Adkins goes to the District Attorney to talk.

If he is smart, he will.

This will be, perhaps, his only chance at getting a plea. His family will not want him facing child pornography charges while Hailey remains missing. Can you imagine going before a judge or before a jury while they see the pictures of Hailey in their minds, knowing that he and Billie Dunn refused to tell police where to find her?

If he faced a sentence of either two years or twenty years for a single child pornographic image, which do you think a judge would likely sentence him to, knowing that Hailey remains unaccounted for?

As his family considers that Dunn is incapable of caring for Shawn Adkins, and that they hated the day he met her, they may now persuade him to come clean.

Billie Jean Dunn has told one more lie that should be carefully considered.

When Hailey was first reported missing, Billie Dunn refused to get off the couch and search for her daughter.

By pretending that Hailey is "missing", wearing a "find me" type t-shirt, she is perpetrating the biggest lie of all:

collecting money for a child she knows exactly where can be found.

It makes the public angry that she is seeking money, just as it angers the public over the rush to shamelessly cash in on and "merchandising" this poor child with junkie trinkets all in the guise of searching. Billie Dunn seeks money for a child she knows exactly where can be found for this is what she told us that police believed on the night that she failed her polygraph. When asked which questions she failed, she said "all of them", as it is very difficult, if not impossible, to lie about a lie.

Billie Dunn has lied while her child is missing.

This is not what an innocent mother does. The mother of a missing child exhausts herself searching for her child, caring nothing about skeletons in the closet, nor about her reputation, nor about running around with her boyfriend. She cares not for her own health nor life; she cares only for her child.

There is nothing "heroic" about Billie Jean Dunn.

She is a perverse, drug addicted liar, who invited in danger, sacrificed one child, gave away another, and now pretends that admitting lying to police will endear her to the public? Who gave her such an impression?

Statement Analysis has shown her lies; and she herself has admitted lying.

What has she lied about?

Child pornography, bestiality, bloodlust violent, imagery. Drugs.

She lied about the night that may have been Hailey's last night on earth.
She lied about the day that Hailey was reported to have gone to a friend's house. It is a fabrication of fiction.

Why would she make up a story about a sleep over?

Some will say that she did it to protect Adkins.

She lied about her relationship with Adkins, seeing him, meeting with him, and then even lied to police about his whereabouts. When she failed her polygraph and police demanded that she tell them where her child was, she was, and continues to be, a suspect.

The sleepover story was rehearsed and thin, easily seen through.

All of these lies, while Hailey was missing.

If your child went missing, would you tell a single lie to investigators? Would you need to?

The road to finding Hailey is Billie Jean Dunn and Shawn Adkins.

The noose continues to tighten. The Texas Rangers are on it; the Sheriff's Department is on it; the FBI is on it, and the District Attorney's Office is on it.

They are going to get justice for Hailey Dunn. She will not be forgotten.

The deception will continue, but only to a point. Like Casey Anthony, Billie Jean Dunn's lies will catch up to her. Adkins is done. They've got enough on him to make sure he doesn't see a free day for the rest of his life. His goal will be, day by day, to just survive in prison. He will have to wake up, morning by morning, behind bars, and grow eyes in the back of his head. He is only 25 years old. And now, Billie Dunn, an old, worn out 33 year old has fired a public shot at him with her stunt of getting an order.

Too little, too late to be believed, but maybe it is just enough to convince Adkins that she is incapable of loving anyone but herself, and his only chance at mercy will be to give up Hailey.

He has already failed the polygraph and his few public statements only confirm his failed polygraph.
Dunn has already failed her polygraph, too. It doesn't matter how many more she takes.

The Dunns and Adkins can go polygraph shopping if they wish, like addicts who doctor shop for drugs.

They will find failures there too.

Did they enjoy Hailey's suffering?

Did they put her in one of their sick, perverse home-made pornographic movies? As they enjoyed the suffering of children and animals, did they enjoy her suffering?

Two psychopathic personalities have come together, both deceptive who can think only of themselves, along with drugs, love of violence, and child pornography.

Sexual Perversion, Drugs, Violence, and Deception. These are the traits that mark Shawn Adkins and Billie Jean Dunn. These are the factors that conspired together, under one roof, which lead to Hailey's demise.

Society remains at risk each day they walk free.

Hailey deserved better.

Hailey deserves better.

If law enforcement's refusal to investigate this case in media tells me anything:

They are in earnest, filled with righteous anger resolve, and of a single mind:

They are in earnest to find Hailey first, and then deliver to her the one thing she must have:

Justice.

It is the dignity that she deserves.

It is what her mother didn't think she was worthy of.

Society sees it differently. Strangers are searching and law enforcement is working diligently, quietly, and confidently building a case.

Justice for Hailey is coming.

The State of Texas will prevail.

PostSubject: Searchers Question Billie Dunn's Decision to Cut Ties with Adkins   Mon Mar 21, 2011 7:53 am

Searchers Question Billie Dunn's Decision to Cut Ties with Adkins

Reported by: Jessica Reyes
Sunday, March 20 2011

Many are questioning missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn's mother's decision to cut off contact with her boyfriend, Shawn Adkins.

Billie Dunn filed a no-trespassing order against Adkins, the only named suspect regarding her daughter's disappearance, on Friday after spending the night in jail.

Dunn was arrested Thursday when police came to her home to carry out a search warrant on him and she lied and said he wasn't there.

Hope for Hailey volunteer Stephanie Boyd said she's wary about the timing of Dunn's decision to cut ties with her boyfriend.

"Why, almost three months after your 13-year-old daughter goes missing? Why not do it that first day," Boyd questioned on Sunday.

Dunn said Adkins can't be on her property for a year under the order. She said she filed it after investigators told her about threats they found in his phone.

"Whenever Hailey first went missing, I think she should have put it on him then. That's what I think any mom should do," Boyd said.

Others were glad to hear about Billie's decision, but added it doesn't bring them closer to finding her daughter.

"I think it's great, he is the person of interest. But it is hard to keep hope up," said Hope for Hailey volunteer Kristy Lloyd.

Hope for Hailey searchers covered roughly 900 square miles in Howard, Mitchell, and Scurry Counties since the girl was last seen on December 27th.

Boyd said she will continue to search with the group, but questions if she'll ever know the truth about what happened to 13-year-old Hailey Dunn.

"Everything that has happened is a little suspicious to a lot of the community. All we want is answers," she said.

Hope for Hailey searchers will meet again next Friday and Saturday at 153 Walnut in Colorado City

PostSubject: Hailey's Mother Hires Attorney, No Longer Speaking to Media   Mon Mar 21, 2011 3:59 pm

Hailey's Mother Hires Attorney, No Longer Speaking to Media

Reported by: Jessica Reyes and Austin Kellerman
Monday, March 21 2011

Monday, 2:15 p.m. Update:
According to the Snyder Daily News, an entry on the blotter at the Scurry County Law Enforcement Center Sunday afternoon stated a woman called and asked to speak to an officer on the telephone in reference to both Dunn and Adkins being together at the caller’s residence looking for someone.
The officer responding stated there was not a vehicle at the location and no contact was made.
Monday, 2 p.m. Update:
Billie Dunn tells KRBC's Jessica Reyes she has hired an attorney and is no longer able to speak with the media.
Dunn was scheduled to do an interview with Reyes at 3 p.m Monday and canceled.
Original Story:
Just a few days after the mother of Hailey Dunn claimed to have cut off ties with her former boyfriend and the only named suspect in her daughter's disappearance, law enforcement says the pair met in Scurry County over the weekend.
Mitchell County Sheriff Patrick Toombs says his investigators have learned Billie Dunn and Shawn Adkins met up in Snyder on Saturday evening.
On Friday, Dunn revealed she filed a protective order that would keep Adkins off her property. Toombs confirmed the filing took place but says this hasn't kept the pair from meeting elsewhere.
In response to Sheriff Toombs comments, Billie Dunn told KRBC's Jessica Reyes the accusations were not true. She says she and Adkins haven't seen each other since her arrest on Thursday.
Over the weekend, many of the volunteer searchers questioned exactly why Dunn would choose to file a protective order at this point in the investigation.
"Why, almost three months after your 13-year-old daughter goes missing? Why not do it that first day," Stephanie Boyd questioned on Sunday.

Dunn said Adkins can't be on her property for a year under the order. She says she filed it after investigators told her about threats they found in his phone.

"Whenever Hailey first went missing, I think she should have put it on him then. That's what I think any mom should do," Boyd said.

Hailey was reported missing on December 28, 2010 in Colorado City.
You can hear much more about the new allegations about Dunn and Adkins tonight during KRBC News at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.

PostSubject: Billie Jean Dunn's Lawyer Speaks   Tue Mar 22, 2011 8:18 am

Tuesday, March 22, 2011

Billie Jean Dunn's Lawyer Speaks

Statement Analysis will continue to cover the case of missing 13 year old, Hailey Dunn. Statement Analysis in bold type.

ABILENE, Texas -- The mother of missing teen Hailey Dunn hired an attorney Monday. Billie Dunn was arrested last week on three charges including hindering prosecution after allegedly lying to police.

Her attorney, John Young, says like others he thinks Dunn should have sought legal council a long time ago. Not because he thinks she's been unfairly represented, but because he says she was greatly unprepared for all the attention she's been getting
.
"There were several times during the investigation that I wished she'd had a lawyer," said Billie Dunn's attorney John Young.

It is not known which times Mr. Young refers to. It would be interesting to know which times. Would it include appearances on the Nancy Grace Show? (see prior analysis)

Young is able to speak on Dunn's behalf and as the mother of missing teen Hailey Dunn there's been a lot of explaining to do. For example, whose idea was it to file the protective order against the only suspect in the case and Dunn's former live-in boyfriend, Shawn Adkins.

"There was some discussion with law enforcement that being anyway associated with this person was somehow going to taint her and somehow get her charged with a crime," said Young.

Note the high level of sensitivity within the additional words. Additional words are words in which the sentence will work should they be removed. They are 'unnecessary'; therefore, doubly important to analysis.

"There was discussion with law enforcement that being associated with this person was going to taint her and get her charged with a crime" is a shortened version. This allows us to see the sensitivity indicators within the sentence:

There was some discussion with law enforcement that being anyway associated with this person was somehow going to taint her and somehow get her charged with a crime

"there was some discussion" is passive. Passivity is used to conceal identity or responsibility and uses vagueness to withhold information.

Note: "being anyway associated" distancing language;
Note: "with this person" "person" is gender neutral
Note that association will only "taint" her and "somehow" this tainting will "get her charged" with "a" crime.

The sensitivity indicates that he likely anticipates charges.

This soft, passive and vague language is something to become accustomed to if the attorney will speak for Dunn.

Which clears up why Mitchell County Sheriff Partick Toombs says Adkins and Dunn were spotted together over the weekend.

Note: how does this clear up anything? What is now clear? Does this answer why Dunn and Adkins were together, in Scurry County, over the weekend, after announcing her "protection" order? This is what causes readers to search for investigative journalism; where on the spot journalists seek answers and ask tough questions; not something we have seen much of. Compare the coverage of this case with that of the work of WFTV's Kathi Belich in the case against Casey Anthony, about to stand trial for the murder of her daughter, Caylee.

However Young says any further discussion about this or the three misdemeanor charges Dunn faces is unrelated to the case of Dunn's missing daughter Hailey.

Note that the attorney is not quoted but the assertion is that "further" discussion is "unrelated" to Hailey. How one might know that a future discussion would be unrelated to anything suggests either clairvoyant like powers of supernatural gleaning of information or:

an indication of what will be the attitude towards questions by reporters.

The latter is more likely.

Any discussion between or from the last two people to see Hailey alive is vital and directly related to the investigation into the disappearance of the 13 year old. It may be unrelated to the attorney, but investigators will be listening carefully, as will the public. No one is able to say any 'further', or future discussion will be unrelated to anything as it is yet known. This shows the sensitivity of the subject, who is rightfully concerned and anxious about the coming charges.

The attorney has inherited a difficult case. Everything from his client's appearance on television and radio, to the admission that she lied to police in a misdemeanor charge. He has his work cut out for him.

The additional words above show a nervousness over charges that will be associated with this investigation; stemming from her association with Adkins. This is a signal of a split: he is going to defend his client, not Adkins. This may be a step in the race towards a deal. The race is between Dunn and Adkins, who will speak first.

Young went on to say, he has yet to see the search warrant investigators say they were carrying out when looking for Adkins the night Dunn allegedly lied about where he was.

"I wish she hadn't told police Mr. Adkins wasn't there, but I wait anxiously for what incredible information comes from that warrant."

Indication of anxiousness but note the additional word "incredible". This tells us what his attitude is towards the affidavit will likely be "incredible".

The "incredible" information is related to Adkins' child pornography. What stands out as incredulous to the subject is not known yet. This is likely an indication that he plans to defend Dunn against child pornography charges, vigorously. It would appear that he anticipates that among the charges his client will face, will be child pornography.

KTXS has requested to see that warrant but was denied by the Judge out of Howard County.

Young says this wasn't the only instance of law enforcement having an unfair advantage, he says officers intentionally arrested Dunn at night so she was unable to bond out until the next day. Questioning her from 8 PM to midnight.

We do not have a direct quote, but what "unfair advantage" would law enforcement be concerned about if they are only looking for a missing 13 year old child?

"I think it was not a mistake...that Ms. Dunn was arrested after eight when there was not a judge to magistrate her... She was unable to get a bond so they were able to chat with her a while whether she wanted to or not."

Note that he acknowledges pre-thought, or planning, and that having to do not so much with Adkins as it did with Billie Jean Dunn.
Note the word "chat" rather than "interrogation".
Note that he acknowledges that police have a reason to "chat" with his client while investigating the disappearance of his client's child.

There were reports Dunn was no longer speaking to the media. Young cleared that up saying she will continue doing interviews, but only if her legal council is also there.

Note that no one has been charged in the disappearance of Hailey Dunn and Billie Jean Dunn and Shawn Adkins remain the only named Persons of Interest in the criminal investigation.

Race To a Deal: Dunn Versus Adkins

Who makes the deal, first, Billie Jean Dunn, mother and Person of Interest, in the case of missing 13 year old, Hailey Dunn, or

Mom's live in boyfriend, child porn monster, Shawn Adkins?

What impact will Shawn Adkins feel, now that Billie Dunn has a lawyer?
Is there incentive for Shawn Adkins to make a deal with prosecutors?

The rules of the game have changed in the race between Adkins and Dunn.

We may hear less from him than we already do, now that Billie Jean Dunn has an attorney.

For the most part, Adkins' attorney seems to be ineffective, thus far, as she was unable to keep Adkins from appearing on radio and showing more deception. Not only that, but she appears to have failed to secure a deal for him. Was that due to Billie Dunn's interference? If so, with Dunn represented, will Dunn's influence over Adkins diminish?

The race to make a deal may have significantly changed, even after the 'secret' meeting between Adkins and Dunn Saturday night. Was this a last chance to negotiate directly? Before you vote, read the analysis on the public statements made by Billie's attorney: he shows knowledge and anxiety. He appears to have a strong intellect. Then vote:

Who Makes the Deal First?
Billie: She has an attorney
Adkins
pollcode.com free polls

In this case of John Alan Conroy, 37, he was sentenced to 34 years in prison; or until he is 71 years old.

Conroy pled guilty in December.

Is there an incentive for Adkins to give up the location of Hailey?

n this case, he downloaded porn, showed it to a child, and video'd and molested her. She is still alive and he got 34 years.

Question: What could Adkins possibly bargain for?

Answer: His life.

This may be the only alternative since Texas is not afraid to implement the death penalty.

It stands to reason that Dunn's attorney will arrange for a private polygraph, though reading through transcripts of her statements may preclude the need for paying for another polygraph. Adkins has had an attorney and since knowing of his deception, has attempted to keep him silent. Since it was likely Billie Dunn who gave him permission to speak, but now has an attorney herself, Adkins may also remain silent.

Officially, residents get to hear, "Billie Dunn is no longer cooperating with police" as if she ever has. If calling lying to police cooperating, and then being interrogated, we can expect that any time police approach her she will invoke her right to remain silent. She has not revealed the location of Hailey, but by being interrogated, has likely yield important information into the criminal investigation.

There must be an incentive for Adkins to speak, and it may be the death penalty.

There is, however, one more possible incentive for Shawn Adkins to speak to law enforcement:

Billie Dunn has an attorney.

The attorney's mission will be to protect Billie Dunn.

This may mean that Shawn Adkin's may be looking at the wrong side of the wheels of the bus, as they go round and round.

How soon might he be thrown beneath its wheels?

The noose continues to tighten. Though Billie said "
every day they don't find her is a good day for me", that day may yet arrive, especially in the hyper sensitive location of Scurry County, where Adkins gave a positive indication that Hailey could be found there.

Oh, by the way, that is where Billie Jean and Shawn happened upon Saturday night, after her release from jail Friday...after her "Protection Order" which she forgot to "mention" that later became only a "tresspass" order; a sham constructed because she cares what the public thinks. If she now has a Protection Order, Adkins would likely be allowed to respond to it.

What does Billie having a lawyer mean to Adkins?

Billie likely won't be starring in any new x-rated home movies any time soon, and it may hinder their love of drugs, but for the most part it means this:

Adkins should carefully consider that Dunn's attorney will be his demise:

He should run, not walk, to the DA's office this morning, give up Hailey before she does, and seek to save his life.

Note the similarities to Adkins:

Big Spring Man Sentenced in Child Pornography Case

Posted: Mar 18, 2011 2:18 PM
LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - A West Texas man who showed child pornography to his girlfriend's 7-year-old daughter and later used the victim to make sex videos is going to prison for nearly 34 years.

A federal judge in Lubbock on Friday sentenced 37-year-old John Alan Conroy of Big Spring.

Conroy in December pleaded guilty to producing child pornography and receiving a visual depiction of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

Court documents indicate Conroy was unemployed at times in 2009 when he lived with a woman, plus her elementary school age son and her daughter.

Prosecutors say Conroy downloaded images of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct and showed them to the girl. Investigators say he later began having sexual contact with the victim, plus shot sexually explicit videos of her.

Statement Analysis of Billie Dunn's Attorney

Question: What's worse than a client who loves the media spotlight?

Answer: Nothing.

But an attorney that loves the spotlight is not good for the client, either.

What will prosecutors be up against should they bring criminal charges into the disappearance of Hailey Dunn against Billie Jean Dunn?

Note to da[strike][/strike]te that no one has been charged in this case and all are under the presumption of judicial innocence, but that Shawn Adkins has been named as a "Suspect" and that Billie Jean Dunn has been named as one of the two "only Persons of Interest" in the criminal investigation into the disappearance of Hailey Dunn.

Statement Analysis not only seeks to highlight truth from deception, but also shows priority, and leakage; the information revealed when we speak.

Statement Analysis is in bold type.

MIDLAND - The lawyer for Billie Dunn is speaking out. He's only been on the job for a few days, but he has plenty to say about the situation facing the mother of missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn.

Dunn has hired an attorney out of Sweetwater named John Young and he tells NewsWest 9 he is now representing Billie in all aspects of the three criminal charges against her. You'll remember after her arrest last week, Dunn was charged with hindering apprehension, possession of a dangerous drug and lying to police.

He may have a few more charges to defend her from.

Young is also representing Dunn in anything that's related to the search for Hailey and it's a move he wishes she would've done a long time ago.

"I think she (Billie) is a decent and good young woman who is desperately hoping to find her daughter alive," Young said.

note that "decent" comes before "good"
note that she is a "young" woman
note that she is a "woman", not "person
Note that she is a "decent and good young woman" not "mother" which, in context of a missing child, is interesting.

He does not call her a good mother, nor a decent mother, even though the context is that she is "desperately hoping" to find her "daughter"

Note that she is not "hoping" but "desperately hoping" with increased sensitivity;
Note that she is not hoping to find daughter, but "daughter alive". The word "alive" indicates that the attorney (subject) is acutely aware that Billie Dunn has made reference to Hailey in the past tense, an indication that she knew Hailey was dead; as early as beginning January.

The sensitivity indicators show that he knows.

The mother of missing 13-year-old cheerleader Hailey Dunn hired an attorney after her arrest a week ago, Young said Billie needed a lawyer for some time.

"She needed someone to help her be prepared and frankly she has not been prepared for these interviews," Young said.

Truthful and honest people do not speak with increased sensitivity; need no preparation, and speak from the free editing process without prepared statements.
When Billie Dunn spoke often and early to media, she was consistently deceptive as well as inconsistent. When she was deceptive, generally by what she withheld, some called her on it, including Nancy Grace. This tells us what kind of "preparation" will go behind statements.

Young said Billie wasn't ready for all the media attention that only intensified after she lied to police about where her boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, actually was.

"Some in law enforcement had suggested strongly to Billie that any association with Shawn Adkins was going to be considered evidence of guilt," Young said. "Sometimes matters of the heart are hard to break. She got scared and she said he's not here."

"Some in law enforcement" is passive. When a subject use passivity it is an intention to conceal where the information (responsibility) came from. "Some" could be clerks, and anyone in law enforcement from any state; including those who are not associated with the investigation.

"strongly suggested" sensitivity indicator

"any association" sensitivity indicator; not just association but "any"

would only be "considered" evidence of guilt.

Note that indicators are used consistently, which then weakens the affirmation, repeatedly.

Note that he excuses her protection (via lying) of Adkins as a "matter of the heart" rather than a crime. This is an attempt to persuade rather than report honestly, appealing to anyone who feels "matters of the heart." Look for female jurors if any trial arises.

Dunn allowed officers to search her house, where they found Adkins inside. He's the only suspect in the case and police had a warrant to search his body.

"My guess is that warrant was a ruse to be able to get one of the two in custody so that they could chat with them," Young said.

Note that his guess is without qualifiers and without sensitivity indicators. This is a statement of truth and is strong. It is, technically a guess, but compare this sentence with the one above. The absence o sensitivity indicators shows veracity. He believes his guess (as do I)

And he believes the timing of Dunn's arrest was convenient for law enforcement officials.

"A judge was not available to magistrate her until the next morning thus making her unavailable for a bond," Young said. "I think that was no mistake, I think that was no accident. I think there was the intent of law enforcement to be able to have unrestricted access to this young woman after criminal charges had been filed."

Note that he guessed that they wished to "chat" (not interrogate, which would imply 'suspect') with one or the other, which was stated without sensitivity indicators and qualifiers. Note now the change, with first another sentence without qualifiers:

A judge was not available to magistrate her until the next morning thus making her unavailable for a bond

but then

"I think that was no mistake, I think that was no accident. I think there was the intent of law enforcement to be able to have unrestricted access to this young woman after criminal charges had been filed."

Repeated "I" in short, choppy sentences indicate emotional rather than logical. Logical sentences are generally longer. Note that "think" allows for others to "think" differently, with the sensitivity indicated by the repetition (3 times)

Note that she is here also a "young woman" and not a"young mother" as the attorney shows that he is distancing himself from Billie as a "mother", which given all that has been revealed about her maternal instincts, is strategic.

"unlimited access" rather than just "access" tells us of his intention to limit their access to her (as well as media).

Dunn bonded out and sometime after that, she filed a restraining order that prohibits Adkins from coming near Dunn's property. Something Young said officials strongly urged her to do.

But since that order was filed, there have been reports the couple were spotted together over the weekend. Young said he's aware of the rumors.

"They were seen together in Snyder," Young said.

Note that they were "seen together" rather than they were "together". This indicates that perception is important to Young in this case.

"Well both of them have family in Snyder. They may have been in Snyder at the same time that doesn't necessarily follow that they were together."

"well" indicates a need for a pause. This statement opens up the style of speech used by Young that media will quickly get used to:
"both of them have family in Snyder" is a truthful statement. It is intended to deceive the reader into thinking that they may have had an accidental meeting. This soft language will likely be seen regularly.
"They may have been..." opening for chance;
"that doesn't necessarily follow that they were together..." with the additional sensitivity noted by "necessarily"referring to "that" (distancing language, rather than "this").

Thinly veiled, it gives the readers insight into how he attempts to deceive, but also gives prosecutors insight into his method.

"It is a logically false premise that because you love someone and he's a suspect you therefore are guilty," Young said.

Note the assertion of what is false, to the subject. An assertion in the negative, is always sensitive.

In and of itself, it would be true, except that the second person "you" weakens the assertion. Change the sentence to use Billie's name and it becomes strong, but that is not what Young does.

Change "you" to "person of interest" and it is no longer "logically false premise"

Young said police are doing an excellent job but he hopes the bottom line for everyone involved is finding the missing girl.

"Instead of trying to make this a 'whodunit' lets make this and keep this a where's Hailey," he said.

This is where we will see Young's weakness.

He has a strong and keen intellect, and is acutely aware of appearances, however, it is statements like these, born from a likely love of media attention, which will hurt his client. He plainly states that he does not want this to be a "whodunit", meaning that he does not want the responsibility for the disappearance of Hailey followed.

As the one charged to defend Billie Dunn, this one statement is a lightning rod for negative attention to his client, and reveals his fear of any investigation of Billie Dunn. He wants the attention on "where" is Hailey, but not "who" got her there. Transparently, he has painted an even larger bullseye on the back of Billie Dunn.

"We believe that the extraordinary efforts of the volunteers are going to pay off and that we're going to find our baby. We're going to find Hailey."

Note "we" reduces commitment to the statement. The statement is weakened, immediately by it, rather than the "I", first person singular. What will be weak?

Note the additional words.
Additional words are those which are unnecessary and when added, they become doubly important to the subject.

Specifically, what is weak?

1. finding
2. relation to Hailey

Note that in finding Hailey, he speaks only of "volunteers" and not of those who are gathering evidence. Note the appeal to volunteers who have searched (Billie Dunn refused to search)

Note the weakness of the plural which he then uses to say "our" and "baby".

This is another transparent and emotional statement which allows readers and prosecutors to see into his strategy:

It will be one of emotionalism and not of fact. His focus will be upon appearance and not upon detail. Expect to see more statements with short, choppy sentences and expect to see him move quickly from first person singular "I" to the plural "we" and "us" when he moves into weakened areas.

In spite of a strong intellect, Young has revealed a blaring weakness:

1. By addressing media.

Acting in the best interest of his client, the best stance is that of silence. This shows that he plans to try this case in the court of public opinion and not remain quiet. The best defense for his client is to remain silent, and to keep her silent. Prosecutors fear quiet.

2. Emotional

He has shown that the will use "possibilities" rather than logical "probabilities" where it is "possible" but not "probable" that the two just happened to bump into each other, at a stop sign, perhaps, in the same town, on the same road, on the same night, and at the exact same time. This shows prosecutors how he will go to the least common denominator for his client.

It must be noted that his charge of defending her is a highly difficult one. Her consistency in deception and her behaviors as a mother are impossible to defend, so he wisely avoids her as "mother" but only as "young woman".

"young" so that he can make an emotional appeal to readership to dismiss 'mistakes' made by Billie Dunn by attributing them to youth.

"woman" is chosen, rather than "person" (gender neutral) because he is attempting to appeal to the emotions of women have have had issues "of heart" as a means of taking the attention away from fact. We will likely see, should he continue to speak to media, more short emotional sentences.

Dunn's attorney said the charge of possessing a dangerous drug is being looked into. Young said that drug was actually a muscle relaxer and Dunn does have a prescription for it, but right now he is working to confirm the history of that prescription.

He also said they believe Hailey is still alive and its only a matter of time before she is safely back home.

The exact quote is not here, but the above quote refutes this assertion.

He knows.

With his love of appearance, we do not yet know if he will become a 'threatening' attorney, one who seeks to silence or control media or public opinion by the threat of suits, within bluster. This remains to be seen. Generally, the weaker the case, the more the need to control information and this sometimes leads to anger towards some. We have seen this in the Casey Anthony case where the media loving Cheney Mason took on the impossible to case with the very public boasting that he and Casey would walk, freely, down the street "arm in arm" only to later become beligerent towards WFTV's Kathi Belich, in particular.

Mason was reduced to a school yard bully, fearful and cowering behind juvenile taunts and name calling. His high love of media attention and egotistical boasting betrayed him.

Baez and Mason showed sensitivity and weakness by attacking not only media, but private citizens blogging opinions of the case.

If Dunn's attorney loves the media attention, it will, as time passes, become a more combative and antogonistic relationship as patience runs out, searchers become fewer, and more evidence surfaces that causes the public to believe what the police believed when they confronted Billie Dunn after she failed her polygraph:

that Billie Dunn knows where Hailey can be found, and has refused to tell.

Each passing day will increase public impatience and make Young's job more difficult.

The less he speaks, the better for his client. The more he speaks, better for the prosecution.

The OJ Simpson trial was about appearances and emotions and set a standard for lawyers of guilty clients in appealing to emotions in public, and eventually to the public that became jurors. Rather than follow the trail of evidence, they voted with their emotions.

This would be like finding a jury of all women who have all had violent and deviant boyfriends to acquit his client based solely on their emotions.

The problem is that the "OJ Factor" has become exhausted. In Florida, sympathy for anyone quickly drained out as there were no empathetic characters associated with Casey Anthony.

Here, the only empathetic character may be Hailey's father, which suggests a strategy of keeping Clint Dunn, somehow, on good terms with Billie Dunn.

Perception by association.

Remember this? (see above statement by "someone" in law enforcement)

Clint Dunn searched on foot early on, and was supported by the public.

Note that Billie Dunn's recent statements attempted to tie herself and Clint together...again.

Will this be part of the strategy of appearances? "Innocence by association"?

Clint Dunn has not been suspected in the criminal disappearance of his daughter; was not needed to be polygraphed, and Statement Analysis has concluded that he had no involvement into the disappearance of Hailey, and has no guilty knowledge either.

Sunday Vigil Planned in Honor of Hailey Dunn

Reported by: Bigcountryhomepage.com Staff Reports
Saturday, March 26 2011

Sunday marks three months since 13-year-old Hailey Dunn vanished from her home in the small town of Colorado City.
The community will gather at 8 p.m. Sunday at Colorado City's Ruddick Park to pray for the girl's safe return.
Hailey's father, Clint Dunn, says he'll be there from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and is encouraging a strong turnout.
Though investigators have arrested some key players involved in the case for largely unrelated crimes, law enforcement has seemingly not gotten any closer to locating the missing girl.
Hailey's mother and her boyfriend have been named persons of interest in the case. Authorities have gone as far as to label Shawn Adkins, Billie Dunn's boyfriend, a suspect. However, Adkins' attorney says his client has done nothing wrong and police are too focused on Adkins rather than finding Hailey.
Searchers are expected to head back out Saturday and look for any clues in Hailey's disappearance
