Kaine Responds to Desiree

The rift is public. The anger boils.

Will Desiree and Kaine be able to work together as they have? Has too much guilt, bitterness and rage caused them to be unable to work together any longer? Did the emails just shown to her by the police cause a surge in rage?

Will Desiree and Kaine Continue to Work Together?
No, too much bitterness, guilt and anger
Yes, they will keep it together for the search

Kaine Horman says he never thought Kyron was in danger around boy's stepmother, Terri Moulton Horman

Kaine Horman told reporters today that he never thought that his son Kyron was in danger around his estranged wife in the months before he disappeared.

Horman, who held a news conference at the Wall of Hope in front of Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue station this morning, was questioned about statements made by Kyron's mother Desiree Young about emails she was shown by investigators on Friday.

Kyron Horman disappeared in early June. He was reportedly last seen at Skyline School in rural Northwest Multnomah County by his stepmother, Terri Moulton Horman. A police investigation has focused on Terri Horman in the weeks after the boy went missing.

Young, interviewed on the Today Show this morning, said the emails revealed "a severe hatred of Kyron."

It is hard to acknowledge hatred towards a child. It is hatred that caused him to go missing. It is hatred that withholds the location of his remains.

In the news conference, Kaine didn't address that issue directly, but he did talk about accusations in his court files that Terri Horman had a drinking problem.

He said it wasn't until recently, after conversations with friends and family and talking to people who know about alcoholism, that he said he realized she was an alcoholic.

He said she exhibited odd behavior but he didn't know what it meant.

"I had no idea what the problem was," he said. "All of a sudden it comes right into focus." He said "I think the alcoholism was the tip of the iceberg."

Note that Desiree reported that Kyron was expressing the tension and acting out in school. Kaine is in a position that if he acknowledges how bad Terri's behavior was, for the purpose of the divorce case, he then is faced with the questions of why he left Kyron (and Kiara) in her care, knowing what he did.

Horman said his 2-year-old daughter Kiara asks about Kyron all the time, but never asks about her mother.

Kyron: Desiree Versus Kaine

.jpg]

The inevitable has happened.

Will Kyron Be Found?
Yes, eventually
No
pollcode.com free polls

There is a great deal of guilt from both Desiree and Kaine regarding Kyron's disappearance.

Early on, we did not analyze all of Desiree's letters; the guilt was too much.

Desiree left Kaine, at a very young age, in order to seek undisclosed medical treatment. She can reason within herself that if she had not done so, he would be alive today. Why didn't she bring him back to her after the treatment? Why does she need to withhold the treatment? Although everyone is entitled to medical privacy, by even telling the press that she left him, she raised the question of treatment herself.

Kaine alleged some powerful things against Terri Horman in court; yet, if he knew about her substance abuse and instability, why did he not keep Kyron safe with his mother?

Desiree was shown emails that Terri Horman sent in the days after Kyron went missing. This was just last week that police revealed them to her.

She is now speaking against Kaine.

She has now concluded that Terri Horman hated Kyron and blamed him for the destruction of her marriage. The natural question in Desiree's mind:

How is it that Kaine didn't take steps to protect her son from the raging step mother?

As this rift continues, it may get a lot worse. Guilt is a powerful force, and both parents have enough to go around.

Had Desiree not left her son with them, he would be alive.
Had Kaine reacted to Kyron's acting out or reacted to complaints by Kyron about his drunken step mother, and allowed him to live with Desiree, he would be alive today.

They are both in a no-win situation which, if justice is not found for Kyron, is going to spiral out of control.

It could lead to...

Below is an article from Oregonlive.com with quotes in italics and Statement Analysis in bold type. We will continue to view the statements of both parents and any breaking developments.

Hours after Kyron Horman's mother lashed out at his father on national television, the father of the missing Portland boy held a media appearance of his own.

Comments Kaine Horman and Desiree Young -- speaking solo several hundred miles apart -- voiced different points of view.

In an interview on NBC's "Today" show, Young accused the boy's stepmother, Terri Moulton Horman, of having a "severe hatred" of Kyron.

"I now believe, without a shadow of a doubt, that not only is she capable of hurting Kyron, it is clear that she could have hurt him in the worst possible way," Young said.

The qualifying language is not weakness, in the sense that we have covered weakness before, but a weakness, viewed in 6 months of denial, which shows the reluctance of Desiree Young to accept that Kyron is dead. I have highlighted the words that show weakness being "believe" and "without a shadow of doubt" and "clear".

This means that Desiree had doubts. Doubts about what?
Her statements clearly show that her doubts (weakness) is related to accepting her son's demise; not about Terri Horman.

Statement Analysis can pick up sensitivity but context can show us, sometimes, what the sensitivity is linked to.

She also criticized her former husband.

Desiree Young, who appeared on the Today Show Monday morning, is shown here at the Wall of Hope in early October.
"I just can't stand by and support the choices that he's making," Young said.

Note that "stand" is tense. The tension is high. Even though she has been on TV many times before, there is a new tension due to uncharted territory: Kaine. They have shared 6 months of unity, but last Friday, when she saw the emails, coupled with what court documents he filed about Terri Horman, she has had enough. This is a mother bereft of her son. She will never know peace until she has a semblance of closure; which can only come with first finding his remains. Terri Horman knows Desiree. Terri Horman knows that there will be no rest until Kyron is either found, or she, Terri Horman herself, instructs her lawyer to give an anonymous tip to police.

Note that the police continue to focus upon the island. We do not know, yet, why, but the repetition indicates that this is where they believe that Terri took him.

Does DeDe Spicher know?

"He had several opportunities to let Tony and I know what was going on and he did not," she said, referring to her husband, Tony Young.

Desiree has likely slept less in the past 6 months than she has missed sleep in 30 years. She has had time to think this through, over and over again, with all the "what ifs" in life.

She loves her son.

She is also filled with guilt for having left him in Kaine and Terri's hands when he was very young. (see her early letters and note the lack of analysis. Those of you experienced in Statement Analysis will understand).

Kaine Horman said he has never withheld information and never felt that his estranged wife posed a threat to Kyron.

"I didn't feel he was in danger," he said.

Note that he didn't "feel", which leaves open the reality that when some read the court documents that he has sworn to be true, that they will "feel" otherwise.

Also note that weakness is to be expected due to the outcome of the case: Kyron's demise.

This is the first time since the Skyline School second-grader disappeared June 4 that his parents have held dueling media appearances.

But as fractures appear in their united front, Young and Horman both want Kyron home and both believe that Terri Horman is responsible for his disappearance.

Standing in front of the Wall of Hope near the Northwest Portland school, Kaine Horman spoke about court filings in the divorce case in which he accused Terri Horman of having a drinking problem.

He said that he had observed "behaviors" but that only recently, in conversations with family and friends, did he start to think she was an alcoholic.

"All of a sudden it comes right into focus," he said. "We're dealing with someone who is a master of deception." Note that "it comes right into focus" is passive. Passivity seeks to hide identity or responsibility. This them continues with the weakness of "we" rather than "I", even though he was not speaking to the press with Desiree, but was alone. This is the outworkings of guilt. Passive language seeks distance. It is understandable that Kaine will be questioned as to how he did not know how dangerous Terri Horman was. Desiree reported that the school said he was acting out due to the strain at home. She alleges that Kaine kept this from her and it is causing a great deal of anger.

In previous interviews, Horman said he learned that Terri Horman secretly drank in 2005 while competing in a bodybuilding contest. She was arrested that year for drunken driving and completed a diversion course. Horman said things were fine after that until Terri Horman gave birth to Kiara in 2008.

But on Monday he indicated that things were not fine.

"I think the alcohol was the tip of the iceberg," he said.

We would want to question him about the tip, and what was behind the tip, and ask him to describe the iceberg. It is his language and we would seek to understand what he thinks alcohol is small in comparison to.

He accused his estranged wife, again, of being a demanding mother and stepmother, carrying out "inappropriate punishment."

We would need to ask him what this means. Is it physical abuse? Emotional abuse? What did he do to intervene? This is soft language and may be that he is withholding information or now faced with the inevitable "failure to protect" label that comes to those who accuse the estranged spouse of abuse. If the other party was abusive, why did you leave your children with her? This is "failure to protect", and is a form of neglect.

Note that she is described as being "a demanding mother and step mother". This may reference her 16 year old son, who was reported to have been running in trouble (lack of boundaries) but it should be questioned how she handled Kiara, at such a young age. If she is capable of murder, she is capable of everything up to murder.

"It was excessive in nature," he said, adding that Kyron suffered.

What did Kyron due to alleviate the suffering? This is what may be causing Desiree to fume. We do not have the direct quote on suffering, but it appears that he acknowledged this. This speaks to "failure to protect" again, and we would need more information in order to make that determination fairly.

Ultimately, he did fail to protect, but as time goes on, we may learn what steps he took, or what he saw that he did not take action regarding.

"It is evident the relationship between them was strained," he said.

This is alarming.

When someone describes behavior between a step mother and a 7 year old child as a "relationship that was strained" it is an indication that Kaine is minimizing the trouble between them. Note that "it" is evident; which is also passive.

This shows that Kaine knew.

Kaine knew that things were bad.

Desiree may have more to say about this.

Terri Horman, who's living with her parents in Roseburg, has not said anything publicly about the case. Although she's not been named a suspect or a person of interest, she's been the focus of the police investigation.

This weekend, dive teams returned to Sauvie Island, looking for clues. Crews have searched segments of the island on foot, ATVs and horseback but apparently nothing has been found.

Kaine Horman said that effort could continue for months to come.

"Sauvie Island is huge -- it's bigger than Manhattan island," he said. "I would imagine at this point in time that the search on Sauvie Island will continue until they cover all of the areas that they need to cover or until they find something."

Horiffic for a parent to have to say.

As the case drags on, he said, each day is difficult. He said he tries to focus on his responsibilities, including taking care of Kiara.

Repeating what was in motions filed in the divorce proceedings, Horman said he does not want his estranged wife to have a supervised visit with their daughter. He also said that Kiara, who just turned 2, does not ask about her mother at all.

"No," he said.

Kaine now has to be careful about allegations as they come back to bite him when people hear how bad she was, they will question why he didn't save Kyron by having him stay with his mother; in particular when Kaine was at work and he, as father, left the "evidently strained" Kyron with Terri Horman, as well as the highly vulnerable Kiara. The courts may have viewed the children differently, due to age and level of sophistication in handling "evidence" of strained relationships.
A supervised visit is conducted when:

1. There is sufficient cause to supervise; or protect the child
2. When reunification is the goal.

If there is no intended goal of reunification, there is no need to have visitation as it will increase the confusion and ultimately the emotional pain to the child.

Legally, Kaine would have to associate the disappearance of Kyron to Terri Horman, in order to prove an "Aggravating Factor" which would then remove the legal responsibility for reunification.

We need to hear what the Grand Jury heard, and if the police plan on charging Terri Horman.

But he said Kiara does ask about Kyron. Choking up, Kaine Horman said he reads to his daughter on the bed the way Kyron did.

Although it's been nearly six months since Kyron disappeared at age 7, Horman has not lost hope that his son is alive.

"I believe he's alive," he said. "We need his face out there more."

When someone believes something, they acknowledge that others may not believe something. The weakness can be:

a. Politeness.

We see this in pluralistic societies where one has a religious belief and instead of saying "this is that" they will say "I believe this is that" in order to be respectful of others, even when their own belief excludes other possibilities.

b. Lack of commitment. Kaine's statements consistently have shown only a hope, but that against time and reason. He knows his son is dead, but his love is great, as is his guilt, and it is too difficult to accept it until proof arrives.

Kyron Horman case: The two faces of Terri

Posted on November 17th, 2010 by Valhall
So after Desiree’s rather explosive statements on the Today program that pointed to a possible motive for Terri harming Kyron – with that motive being she just hated his guts and blamed him for her marital problems – Kaine Horman spoke out on the subject in an impromptu press conference. Kaine shared that there was a significant strain in the marriage prior to Kyron’s disappearance. Kaine stated that he and Terri “were getting into arguments all the time about her relationships with the children in general and how I wasn’t finding it acceptable.” This statement by Kaine is consistent with the information we have learned prior about Terri’s problems coping with all three children in the home, assuming prior statements and claims are accurate.

  • Terri was having problems in her relationship with her own older son James and sent him to live with her parents in Roseburg. (She would then later blame this decision, that is reported to have been solely by Terri while Kaine was a business trip, on Kaine by stating Kaine forced James to move out.)
  • Terri was becoming increasingly hard on Kyron about his daily school performance. Kaine has stated that Terri had become almost obsessive in reviewing Kyron’s performance folder every day after school and if he did not have a “perfect” scoring for the day she wanted him to be grounded to his room. Kaine had previously stated he and Terri had had disagreements between them due to Terri wanting Kyron disciplined in this manner and Kaine not agreeing.
  • From the court records filed, along with Terri’s own statements which we’ll look at in a bit, even though Terri was a stay at home mom, she did not appear to spend a significant amount of time in “mothering” activities with Kiara. She appeared to go the gym daily, for extended periods of time which placed Kiara in daycare at the gym, and then spent large amounts of time on Facebook, emailing and playing online games either through Facebook or World of Warcraft. Then we have Kaine’s statements that Terri was passing out on the couch in the evenings (frequency unknown) with Kiara there with her and becoming belligerent when he would come in to take Kiara from her so that Kiara could be put to bed at a reasonable hour.

We had already learned from statements made by Desiree that Terri was, in Desiree’s opinion, a pathological liar. When Kyron’s disappearance was first reported Terri’s “side of the story” was told by her adoptive mother as well as friends. Terri had been in Kyron’s life since he was 8 days old and had shortly afterward been hired by Kaine to move in and be Kyron’s primary caregiver. According to these accounts the relationship between Terri and Kaine then developed and resulted in their marriage a few years later. Of course, since then we have learned that just about none of that was true. The truth was Terri and Kaine were having an affair while Desiree was pregnant. If Terri was “in Kyron’s life” from the time he was 8 days old it was only from a peripheral standpoint. Terri was not Kyron’s primary caregiver. Desiree was primary caregiver to Kyron until he was about 2 years old when Desiree gave custody to Kaine so that she could get serious medical treatment. Terri was never “hired by Kaine” to be a live in babysitter.
It seems the list of discrepancies (also known as mistruths, half-truths…but I just prefer the word lies) grows daily. As Kaine stated in his press conference on Wednesday, Terri is “a master of deception and misdirection” and that they are still trying to figure out “Who this person [is] we’ve been around? It’s not the person we thought it was. It’s a completely different person living a separate life.”
KATU was able to obtain at least one of the emails sent by Terri in the months before Kyron disappeared. This email was sent by Terri to a friend approximately 2 months before Kyron went missing. While KATU does not print the actual email, they do share several statements from it. Reader OpenLetter, in this comment, did a great job of pulling some statements Terri Horman had made on her Facebook page that were very contradictory to the claims made by Terri in the email covered by KATU. Let’s look at the two faces of Terri.
From the email:

“I have to ask him before I go out to meet anyone. I have no money because I stayed home with Kyron at birth since his natural mom wouldn’t – spent all of my 30k to do so. …
From her Facebook:

Dec 22, 2009: Happily married in Portland, I’m a teacher but home with the kids at the moment. [Please note this around the same time she allegedly was plotting to have Kaine offed! Happily, that is.]
From the email:

He’s on me about being fat. Wants me to do another [bodybuilding] show.
From her Facebook:

Nov 3, 2009: Yeah, something about hitting 40…I’d like to do another show but it would be figure this time – I think the bodybuilding was too hard on my family.
March 27, 2010: Off to see the Vancouver Bodybuilding show with Mimi and Genevieve tonight! Totally stoked!
April 8, 2010: Time to get excited to go to the gym.
From the email:

Makes me pay $1000 a month to him for bills although it’s my child support and unemployment. I do all the yard work, house work, mowing the lawn, cleaning the gutters.
From her Facebook:

April 10, 2010: Eat…gym…eat…clean house…mow lawn….eat….
April 14, 2010: Kaine and Kyron are working on a bridge for a class project.
Terri likes when life gives you lemons, add vodka and throw a party.
Along with comments and activity markers on her Facebook wall that, as OpenLetter astutely points out, shows Terri spending a great deal of her time “Gaming, gaming and more gaming: Family Feud, Treasure Isle, Fast Money, Mafia Wars, World of Warcraft.”
Terri, Terri, Terri…all two or three of you…you’re all liars. Where’s Kyron?

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The parents of missing Portland boy Kyron Horman pleaded once again for help to bring attention to the case six months since he disappeared.
"We recognize that it has now been 6 months since Kyron went missing and we are still deeply saddened that he is not home with us. We feel the investigation continues to move forward in a positive manner and is progressing toward finding out what happened to Kyron. Briefings continue with law enforcement on a regular basis and we remain confident in the commitment of law enforcement and in the mission to find our son," Kaine Horman and Desiree Young said.
Kyron disappeared from Skyline Elementary on June 4. No suspects have been named in the case.
"We all still remain focused and relentless in the pursuit of bringing Kyron home. We would like to stress to everyone that Kyron has not yet been found and we need everyone’s help. We still need everyone willing to pass out fliers and/or post them in high visibility areas. If you are travelling, attending holiday events, out shopping, or even shipping packages from your business you can help. Kyron Horman case: Parents work to keep Kyron’s name alive

Posted on December 3, 2010 by Valhall

Desiree Young and Kaine Horman made another public plea this week in their endless efforts to keep the investigation of their still-missing 8-year-old son, Kyron Horman, in the public eye. Kyron’s parents stated:

We feel the investigation continues to move forward in a positive manner and is progressing toward finding out what happened to Kyron. “Briefings continue with law enforcement on a regular basis and we remain confident in the commitment of law enforcement and in the mission to find our son.
We all still remain focused and relentless in the pursuit of bringing Kyron home. We would like to stress to everyone that Kyron has not yet been found and we need everyone’s help. We still need everyone willing to pass out fliers and/or post them in high visibility areas. Kyron still needs all of us.
Kyron, who was 7 years old at the time, has been missing since June 4th. If you have any information that could lead authorities to Kyron and give his parents some answers, please contact the Multnomah County Sheriff’s office at (503) 988-4300.

Kyron Horman case: Sheriff Staton voices confidence

Posted on December 6, 2010 by Valhall

December 4th marked 6 months since then 7-year-old Kyron Horman disappeared from his elementary school near Portland, Oregon. Multnomah County Sheriff’s office (MCSO) have held the information they have learned in the investigation of Kyron’s disappearance close and little information to gauge the progress of the investigation has been released.
Sheriff Staton spoke with Maxine Bernstein with The Oregonian this past week and make some of the most promising statements concerning the status of the investigation for Kyron.
February 1, 2011 will mark the end of the 3-month period Sheriff Staton had set when he went to county commissioners this fall and requested more funds to continue the investigation. At that time the MCSO stated they had almost fully disclosed what they had found in the investigation to the commissioners, after which they were granted the additional funds. It was at that time that Sheriff Staton announced the creation of the task force to focus on Kyron’s investigation and stated he believed he would not have to go back to the commissioners at the end of 3 months.
In the interview this past week with The Oregonian Sheriff Staton had the following promising statements to share concerning the status of Kyron’s investigation:

The scope is narrowing. My belief is we should be relatively close to something by then; that’s why I set the time frame I did. While we may not be at an arrest or an indictment phase, we’re going to have it narrowed down to a point where we may be calling out a suspect, identifying certain people or things.
They’re a lot further along. They started out with a long laundry list. … They’ve gradually been able to eliminate people who they can say are absolutely not involved. This investigation has narrowed it down significantly.
Staton does add that there is “not one shred of evidence to indicate the child has died” and Sgt. Keith Krafve, who is the task force supervisor, added that “Our biggest hurdle: We don’t have the kid, alive or dead.”
Sheriff Staton also made some statements that show that Desiree and Kaine, whose desperation to have their son located and back to them, may have disclosed more information than MCSO wanted released. Most likely the comment made by Sheriff Staton was in reference to separate interviews given by Desiree and Kaine after they were presented with emails written by Terri Horman that reportedly voiced her disdain for Kyron. Sheriff Staton shared with The Oregonian that he took Desiree and Kaine to lunch last month and shared that while the MCSO wants to keep them apprised of the progress of the investigation, they need Kyron’s parents to coordinate with them before making statements based on evidence shared with them.
Now, the disheartening part of the interview with Sheriff Staton is the admittance they have no physical evidence of Kyron, or anyone associated with his disappearance. It is most likely for this reason that Norm Frink, chief deputy DA for Multnomah County seemed to temper Sheriff’s Staton’s optimism by stating:

Barring an unexpected evidentiary development, the investigation is going to continue for months.
Terri, where is Kyron?

Trucking Company Helps Keep Kyron in the Public Eye

January 26, 2011

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Seven months after Kyron Horman disappeared, law enforcement and a trucking company are teaming up to keep his picture in the public eye.

Five 75-foot tractor trailers from Gordon's Trucking that will have Kyron's picture on both sides of the truck.

These trucks drive all over the U.S. and that is the point: exposure.

"I think everyone we've been working with has been doing a great job keeping his face out there. So I think there are many other ways we can continue to get it out there, many different forms for people to see it in an ongoing basis, and we're just going to keep working on projects to do that and this one is huge," said Kaine Horman, Kyron's Dad.

The program is called Homeward Bound, and previously it was only offered in Washington.

There has been 23 total kids involved in the program, six of whom were located.

Kyron Horman search starts with optimism, ends in frustration

Sunday morning began with optimism in the latest search for Kyron Horman.

Authorities hoped to find closure in the case of the boy who has been missing just days shy of eight months. But by day's end, the search yielded only frustration and not a trace of the boy who should now be in the third grade.

Lt. Mary Lindstrand, Multnomah County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman, started the day confident that search efforts would bring a sense of relief in the case.

"Will that happen today? We can hope," Lindstrand said. "The ultimate goal in any investigation is to bring closure and take it to the next step, which is law and order."

About 50 searchers and seven cadaver-detecting dogs energetically took to the task. They set a goal of scouring the rural areas north and west of Portland -- crossing from Multnomah County into corners of Washington and Columbia counties.

The search area focused on several parcels of private property, mostly logging land, along Northwest Skyline Boulevard -- between Rocky Point Road and Logie Trail Road -- and around the Dixie Mountain area.

As searchers combed the land, they looked for any remains or for any clues that could lead to the lost boy.

Searchers wore hiking boots, used GPS devices and carried small digital cameras. They used red-and-white striped tape to mark areas already covered.

Also in hand were maps and a picture of the smiling, bespectacled boy clad in a "CSI" T-Shirt and posed in front of his science project. It is among the last-known photos taken of the boy.

Kyron hasn't been seen since he disappeared from Skyline School on June 4. His stepmother, Terri Moulton Horman, drove him to school early that morning for the science fair. She told investigators she last saw him walking to his classroom at about 8:45 a.m.

Multnomah County sheriff's officials say they hope new search brings closure to Kyron Horman case Multnomah County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Lt. Mary Lindstrand said officials are hoping to bring closure today to the Kyron Horman search that has lasted seven months. Watch video

He never made it to his class. He was reported missing that afternoon when his father, Kaine Horman, and stepmother discovered he was not aboard the school bus.

Authorities have not named a suspect in the case, but it is clear from court documents and testimony in the pending divorce between Kyron's father and stepmother that Terri Horman remains at the center of the inquiry, along with some of her associates and friends. No arrests have been made.

The area of Sunday's search is remote, though it borders Northwest Skyline Boulevard, one of the main thoroughfares near the Horman home.

Much of the area consists of trees towering above thorny twisted undergrowth and reaches elevations of 1,500 feet.

Multnomah County sheriff's Deputy Eric Gustafson, who was a coordinator of Sunday's search, said investigators had planned to search the area a few months ago, but Sunday was the first chance weather would allow.

Fog drifted in and out of the area throughout the morning and into the afternoon. By about 3:30 p.m., a steady, cold rain fell.

Marty Neiman, a canine training officer who founded the Tualatin-based nonprofit search-and-rescue organization Search One K9 Detection, combed through four areas with a partner and his cadaver-detecting dog, Justice. Neiman slowly and meticulously made his way through some dense woods, but found his areas to mostly be grassy and without the thick, bushy undergrowth.

He searched one area down a gravel road, about four miles from Skyline Boulevard. Neiman came across an old orange-and-blue plaid shirt, but it was too big for Kyron and had been there too long, he said.

Marty Neiman talks about the search for Kyron Horman Marty Neiman, a canine training officer who founded Search One, a Tualatin-based nonprofit search and rescue organization, said his dog Justice is trained to find decaying body fluids that have gone into the ground. Neiman and Justice were out searching for anything that could be related to the Kyron Horman case. Watch video

Neiman said he has been on more than 30 search operations for the missing boy.

"Part of me doesn't want to find him," he said. "I'd rather find him in Ohio playing basketball. But each time, you just give it your best shot, and wait until they call you again."

Searchers targeted 11 different areas, ranging in size from 3 acres to 6 acres. Cadaver-detecting dogs made it through seven of the areas. Ground searchers without dogs planned to search three other areas, but made it through only one.

Gustafson said he doesn't know when crews will return to pick up the search.

Sheriff's authorities wouldn't discuss why searchers were focused on the areas. Gustafson emphasized that the search was based on information the Kyron Horman task force learned during its investigation.

"None of the searching we do is random," he said. "We don't throw darts at a board and say, 'Let's search here.' We don't say, 'We haven't searched in a while, let's go search.'"

Before Sunday's search, 155 square miles of land had already been scoured, in the what's become the largest search operation in Oregon history. The previous search, Gustafson said, was in November on Sauvie Island.

By 4 p.m. Sunday, searchers had called it quits for the day. They debriefed with the search coordinators before leaving soggy and cold -- and without new clues about Kyron's location.

Gustafson said at this point, search efforts are not time-sensitive. But the desire for closure isn't going away.

"We want to solve this case," he said.

Kyron Horman case: Searches continue

Posted on January 31, 2011 by Valhall

Sunday, January 30th, around 50 searchers and 7 cadaver dogs searched areas along a 6 mile stretch of Skyline Drive north of Skyline Elementary School and between Logie Road and Rocky Point Road. While some reports state there were several parcels of privately-held logging areas that were the focus, ABC news and their Portland affiliate KATU state the search focused on two specific spots. OregonLive states the searches were focused around the Dixie Mountain area which a peak just to the north and bordering, and with access from, Rocky Point Road.
KATU was told the searches were based on investigative leads developed in the investigation being conducted by the Kyron Horman Task Force. A source told KATU the searches were based on “some reasonably location-specific information”. At the close of the day a prepared statement from MCSO stated:

The searches have concluded for the day. There were 11 areas designated to be searched by canine teams; seven of these area[s] were searched. There were also three other area[s] designated to be searched by ground crews; one of these areas was completed.
While the search was suspended for the time being, MCSO did not make a statement as to whether the searches would continue or give any estimation as to the completion of this latest search effort. Nothing of significance was located during yesterday’s search.
While the search efforts were going on KATU spoke with Desiree Young, Kyron’s mother. She stated she had been anticipating these searches and “the closure that it could bring to the case of her son.” She stated:

I have been waiting for this search to happen for some time now. The Kyron Horman Task Force has shared the intelligence information with me, but unfortunately I can’t share that information with the media. I’m excited that today’s search will hopefully bring some closure to this case.
Looking at the various news reports on this weekend’s search, it appears that tips have came in during the task force’s investigation about areas (maybe Dixie Mountain) that have been under snow and unable to be searched until now. With warmer weather, some of these areas are now accessible for ground searches. Deputy Eric Gustafson of MCSO stated to OregonLive that,

None of the searches we do is random. We don’t throw darts at a board and say, ‘Let’s search here.’ We don’t say, ‘We haven’t searched in a while, let’s go search’
indicating, once again, that these searches had been organized based on specific information.
Now, let’s look at back at some of the information that has been discussed her at The Hinky Meter as to the possible importance of the area that was searched yesterday. In the article entitled Was Terri on Hwy 30 June 4th? we combined some analysis that Maura had performed on the cell phone ping reports along with a reported sighting of Terri on Highway 30 which runs along the river. In that article we covered where Maura took the information reported by James Pitkin of The Willamette Weekly that said law enforcement sources were saying that Terri’s phone pinged on Sauvie Island on the 4th and showed that the most likely cell tower to have been pinged and “appeared” to have put Terri on Sauvie Island was the tower at Scappoose High School north of Rocky Point Road.
We then looked at the sighting reported by a man who was only identified as “Chas” who stated he saw a pick-up matching the white Ford pick-up owned by the Hormans pull out of a side road “north of Logie Trail Road” and turn south on Hwy 30 sometime between 9:15 and 9:45 on the morning of June 4th. Chas states he looked over at the pick-up as he passed it driving south on Hwy 30 and it was being driven by a red-headed woman that he later learned from news coverage was Terri Horman. In looking at the two pieces of information, it was shown that it was a possibility that Terri’s phone could have pinged on the Scappoose High School cell tower if she was on Rocky Point Road which meets Hwy 30 just 3 miles south of that tower. In addition, if Terri was pulling off Rocky Point Road and turning south on Hwy 30, it would agree with what “Chas” states he saw.
In the early days of the investigation into Kyron’s disappearance, the MCSO had requested surveillance video from any private residences or businesses along several roads, the road acting as the northern border to the area they called to the public to assist them with by providing video was Rocky Point Road. Please remember that we now have learned Terri told investigators that after dropping Kyron off at Skyline Elementary she spent an hour and a half driving around on rural roads trying to get Kiara’s ear to stop hurting – then she took the sick baby to the gym and worked out for an hour.
These latest searches are reported to be based on reasonably “location-specific information” that has apparently come in since “Chas’s” sighting report. It appears to this writer that the red-headed woman in the white F-250 Ford pickup headed south on Hwy 30 during the morning of June 4th, 2010, is becoming more and more likely to have been either Terri Horman….or maybe DeDe Spicher? Either way, I think Chas’s sighting may have been a relevant tip to the investigation of the disappearance of Kyron Horman…just my opinion.

Fugitive Cop Shooter David Durham’s House Located In NEW Kyron Horman Search Grid

Sauvie Island and Waldport, Oregon- A statewide manhunt is underway during the last week for a suspected shooter of a Lincoln City policeman.

Officer Steve Dodds was alledgedly shot more than once at close range while the incident was recorded on his patrol car dash cam. Dodds is in critical but stable condition. Dodd’s stopped David Anthony Durham for speeding Sunday evening after he left a co-worker’s party without his date, but not without his dog, Huckleberry.
Huckleberry has been recovered by police with only a minor leg injury.
It is not known what prompted the attempt on Officer Dodd’s life, but according to Durham’s own family members, he has been suffering from delusions and instability following a shoulder injury he sustained in June, 2010, for which he was taking prescription painkillers.
Michael Durham, David’s older brother and a Wildlife Photographer, pleads for his younger brother to turn himself in peacefully:

”I wouldn’t say that was a catalyst for anything,” he said. “You know, my brother has been having some issues with a shoulder injury and he had been on pain medication for the past few months. And we noticed that his ability to perceive what was real and what was not real seemed to diminish.” “My sister, Laurie, my brother Willie, myself and my mother, we love David and we want him to peacefully turn himself into the police,” said Michael Durham. “They assured us that he won’t be harmed if he’s not armed and doesn’t act in a threatening manner.”
David Anthony Durham, a resident of Sauvie Island, for the past six years, was a Sauvie Island Volunteer Firefighter, and nominated himself for director in 2007. Six months ago he was removed from active duty for erratic behavior. Durham is also reported to be an avid landscaper and outdoorsman.
Durham’s home on Sauvie Island, is directly adjacent to a highly publicized sighting from a tipster in the Kyron Horman disappearance investigation named “Chas” who claimed to have seen Kyron and a woman with long red hair the morning of his disappearance at approximately 9:15AM on his way to work, in a white truck.

Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office has cordoned off Durham’s Sauvie Island home and access is blocked by a MCSO patrol car.
There has been a 25 person SWAT team stationed at the base of the street since Monday, as well as a second team at a vacation home in Waldport.
A co-worker of Durham’s at Willamette Blueprint & Printing described her friend as a happy go lucky guy with no emotional problems and has worked there for at least 5 years.
However, Durham failed to show up for work on Friday, indicating perhaps he had concerns prior to the Sunday shooting. In a financial document obtained exclusively by blinkoncrime.com, In September 2005 David Durham claimed he left Willamette to become a full-time college student and that he was receiving unemployment compensation directly to his Portland Teachers Credit Union Account, while seeking financial aid.
It also showed that Mr. Durham was a previous resident on Sauvie Island at another address 2.5 miles South, and directly adjacent to Logie Rd across the channel. New Intelligence Leads To New Search Efforts Today Specifics have not been released, but new intelligence, the first in 9 months, is responsible for today’s new search efforts.
Today, Newly-tasked search teams are concentrated on NW Skyline Rd, south of Rocky Point.
Desiree Young, Kyron’s Mother:

”I have been waiting for this search to happen for some time now,” said Desiree Young, Kyron’s biological mother. “The Kyron Horman Task Force has shared the intelligence information with me, but unfortunately I can’t share that information with the media. I’m excited that today’s search will hopefully bring some closure to this case.”

Mother of Kyron Horman tells son she loves, misses him for Valentine's Day

By Lynne Terry, The Oregonian

Thomas Boyd/The OregonianSearchers were out in force in January, looking for Kyron Horman, but found no clues.

The mother of missing Kyron Horman released a message for Valentine’s Day, saying that on this day, this year, she has hole in her heart.

“Kyron I love you very much, I miss you and I want you home,” said Desiree Young. “I have a hole in my heart that will not be fixed until you come home. I will never give up. I will keep searching until you are in my arms again.”

Young, who lives in Medford with her husband, Detective Tony Young, placed a valentine on the Wall of Hope in the Portland area for her son, saying that this has always been their special day.

In a message released to the media, she said that she always made a point of making Kyron feeling loved and special on Valentine’s Day, just as her own mother had done when she was young.

“Each year I get something special for Kyron because he's my Valentine,” she said in her message. “ I placed a Valentine for him at the Wall of Hope in hopes that he can feel my love for him, from wherever he is. I am deeply saddened that he is not here with me.”

Kyron disappeared June 4 at Skyline School during a science fair. His stepmom, Terri Moulton Horman, was the last known person to have seen him. She’s remained the focus of the investigation, which has involved the biggest search in Oregon history.

Young said in her message that searchers will continue to look for him.

“I know that we are getting closer every day,” she said. “I dream about finding you and I know they will bring you home.”

Last month, more than six months after Kyron went missing, searchers were out again looking for him. Although several teams of cadaver dogs and searchers on foot scoured rural areas north and west of Portland, crossing from Multnomah County into corners of Washington and Columbia counties, they found no indication of the boy, who was 7 when he disappeared.

The boy's father, Kaine Horman, who's divorcing Terri Horman, did not return a message seeking comment.

Kyron: The Heartbreak of Desiree

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Supporters of the Kyron Horman search gathered Sunday at the Wall of Hope at noon to show their continued support for the missing child and his family.

This event, held near Skyline Elementary School, the school Kyron Horman's attended before he disappeared on June 4, 2010, comes two days before Sheriff Dan Staton is scheduled to present a six-month review of the investigation to the Multnomah County Commissioners.

Also on Sunday, Desiree Young, the mother of Kyron Horman, released to the media a Valentine to her missing son. In it, she wrote the following:

"This holiday will be tough just as the others have. Valentine’s Day has always been our special day. When I was growing up my Mom always bought me some sweet little memento like a heart necklace or something special that was just for me, it made me feel loved and extremely blessed. I decided when I had kids that I would do the same. Each year I get something special for Kyron because he's my Valentine. I placed a Valentine for him at the Wall of Hope in hopes that he can feel my love for him, from wherever he is. I am deeply saddened that he is not here with me.

Kyron I love you very much, I miss you and I want you home. I have a hole in my heart that will not be fixed until you come home. I will never give up, I will keep searching until you are in my arms again. God is looking over you and protecting you until I get there, so be brave, I am coming.

The police and search & rescuers are still looking for you, they will not stop until you are found. We have adopted them into our family and they feel it is a personal mission to bring you home to us and they will not stop until you are home. I know that we are getting closer every day, I dream about finding you and I know they will bring you home.

Law Enforcement continues to brief us regularly on the case, the investigation continues to march on, they will solve this case and bring Kyron home.

Terri – WHERE IS KYRON?

Posted on February 20, 2011 by Valhall

Desiree Young wants to know where her son, Kyron, is. She wants him home. She is voicing little confidence that he is alive. In fact, her words are a testament that she fears he was mostly likely murdered, or intentionally placed in harms way. Terri Horman, Kyron’s stepmother and the last known person to see Kyron alive, has not been honest with law enforcement who have now worked over 8 months to find Kyron. Terri has been reported to have flunked two polygraphs and walked out on another. Her account of her location and activities on the morning Kyron went missing is questionable, and some reports state do not match her cell phone pings.
Desiree Young deserves to have her child back. She deserves to know where he is and bring him home. Desiree is demanding answers. As a mother and grandmother, I am 100% behind her getting those answers. I have created the following flier in hopes that others will take it and pass it forward. Terri Horman needs to tell what she knows. Terri Horman needs to answer the question – WHERE IS KYRON???
I have created two formats to spread the word. Please feel free to copy the following jpg poster image onto your Myspace page, your Facebook page, other sites you post at, and embed in emails to your friends. There is also a pdf linked below the image in case you would like to print out posters, or pass the file forward to others to spread the word. There is no obligation to say where you got it….JUST HELP DESIREE BRING HER SON HOME. PASS IT FORWARD!

http://www.thehinkymeter.com/Library/KH/kyronhorman.pdf
Thank you for helping. Terri has to be held accountable until she has provided all information and HONEST answers to law enforcement. She MUST help bring Kyron home. Until such time that she cooperates and assists law enforcement in finding Kyron, she will be anathema to those who demand the truth.

PostSubject: An Update On Status Of The Kyron Horman Investigation, Haleigh Cummings & More........   Mon Feb 21, 2011 4:24 pm

An Update On Status Of The Kyron Horman Investigation, Haleigh Cummings & More………….

It appears that Sheriff Dan Staton has requested 15 minutes of the county commissioners’ time next week to give an update on the status of the Kyron Horman Investigation. He will not be asking for additional funds. This is said to be strictly about giving them an update from the Kyron Horman Task Force, on the progress of the investigation. Apparently they have accounted for all 490 persons, and 54 vehicles that were at Skyline Elementary School on June 4th of last year, when Kyron went missing, and have subpoenaed more than 300 sets of records. They have 66 binders filled with more than 4318 leads to date.

On Valentine’s Day, which was last Monday, Desiree Young went to the Wall Of Hope and left a Valentine’s message for Kyron and spoke to the media as well.

When I was growing up my Mom always bought me some sweet little memento like a heart necklace or something special that was just for me, it made me feel loved and extremely blessed. I understand that Desiree is Kyron’s mother and that she wants, probably needs to have hope, but in contrast to her statements when they did the last search, it seems she has more hope now, than she did then. Which makes me wonder if that didn’t pan out? I thought they were going to continue that search, but found no more mention of it. I’m glad they have accounted for everyone and every vehicle that was at the school that day, just as I’m glad they have been following up on all of those leads. I still wonder though, if they are any closer to finding Kyron, or at least what happened to him.
Remember Haleigh Cummings?

She’s been missing more than 2 years now, and in the latest press release from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, we were told that the case was not COLD, and that they would continue to work the case aggressively and that they have determined that this was not the work of a stranger, but that the individuals that knew what happened to Haleigh were not being honest, basically letting the public know that either someone else that knows what those individuals know, needs to talk, or they need those individuals to start telling the truth. They assured the public of the amount of leads they have investigated. My point??? They still do not know what happened to Haleigh, because some folks that were close to her, are not telling the truth. I suspect this is the case with Kyron as well.

I’m not trying to be critical here, but I just wonder if the investigators on either case are any closer to finding either child. It deeply saddens me that neither of these precious children have been found, or even what truly happened to them, and who is responsible. In both cases, no one has been charged, and neither child has been found. I’m not at all saying that law enforcement doesn’t want to. I’m sure they do. I pray somebody starts talking in both cases.

Kyron Horman Case: Sheriff to update Board of Commissioners today

Posted on February 24, 2011 by Valhall

Sheriff Staton will go before the Multnomah County Board of Commissioners today for the first time since requesting, and being granted, additional funds for the investigation into missing Kyron Horman a little over 3 months ago. It is being reported he will not be asking for further funds for the investigation.
It is unknown if any portion of Staton’s statement to the Commissioners will be made public, or if there will be a press conference. Please use this thread to discuss any information that comes available about this meeting.

Statement Analysis: Kyron Missing Facebook Post

What follows is Statement Analysis of the original Facebook posting from June 4, 2010, the date that Kyron Horman was reported missing.
First is the posting itself, in its entirety; then is the Statement Analysis in bold type.

Portland, Oregon June 4, 2010

MISSING
Kyron Horman, 7 is missing. He was last seen by his stepmother when she accompanied him to the Skyline Elementary School on the morning of Friday, June 4, 2010, where they first took photos in front of his science fair project. She then walked him down near his classroom, wished him luck and headed home. However, that was the last anyone saw of the boy, as he walked down the corridor leading to his classroom. The students were divided into groups, due to the fair, and somehow he was not accounted for or realized missing. It was not until his stepmom, who raised him since an infant, did not see him get off the school bus that she panicked and phoned the school. Searches have been conducted and the child has yet to be found. The National Guard, FBI, Police and many are continuing thier [sic] searches. Please help look for Kyron. His family is devastated by his disappearance.

If info, please call the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office tip line,

Analytical Question: Who wrote this?
Is It Deceptive?

His family is devastated by his disappearance.

Analysis:

1. "wished him luck". It should be noted that in domestic homicides, when a subject tells us what was said to the victim at departure (a departing salutation) it is often an indication of approximate time of death. It is likely that Kyron's killer used these very words at his death. In domestic homicide statements, such things as "see you, babe", 'and I told her "goodbye"' and other such will generally indicate the time of death, later confirmed by a cororner's report.

2. Chronological order. When a subject speaks or writes from memory, it is done in chronological order, as it flows easily from memory. Here, we have a break in chronology indicating deception. (see line 5)

3. Note the subject "headed home", which is an incomplete activity reported making it highly sensitive to the subject.

In statement analysis, even in deceptive statements, sentence by sentence words are likely to show truth. Here, the subject tells us that she headed home, not that she went home. This is because lying is stressful internally, and is avoided. This only tells us the direction, but deliberately avoids telling us she went home. She only "headed" home, which is also a:

4. "temporal lacunae", or a gap of time in which information is missing. Coupled with the departing salutation, this period of time, unmeasured, and without detail, a highly sensitive period of time for the subject.

5. "the boy" is a phrase a loving parent would not use while missing. Note the language of both Kaine and Desiree.

6. Cause: "so, since, therefore, because, etc" are noted as explanations why something occurred rather than telling what happened. "due to the fair..." is an attempt to explain why something happened, rather than what happened; an indication that this is sensitive to the subject.

7. Passive language: Passive language seeks to withhold identity or responsibility. Here, the subject employs passive language: "somehow, he was unaccounted for". The passivity shows that the subject seeks to hide the identity of the person responsible for him being unaccounted" for.

8. Self flattering language: "step mom" rather than "step mother" along with "who raised him since..." has the subject attempting, not to report a missing child, but to immediately flatter the step mother, as to reduce suspicion. The need to reduce suspicion invites suspicion. That the subject has a need to reduce suspicion, given the date of posting (June 4) itself shows guilt.

9. Placement of Emotions: "panicked" shows the emotions in the logical place of the story which is a signal of deception. First taught by Avinoam Sapir, later established by studies quoted by Dr. Susan Adams in "Indicators of Veracity" (studies in the 1980's and 1990's

In truthful statements, the emotions come after the event, as emotions take time to process. When an emotion is in the logical or "perfect" place, it is a strong indication of story telling and fabrication.

10. Change of language. A change of language should represent a change in reality. In Statement Analysis, there is no such thing as a synonym.

The following changes should be noted:

Step mother, Step Mom

The boy, the child

Reality has the power to change language. Here are two well known examples:

"the car started to sputter and finally the engine quit. I left the vehicle on the side of the road."

The "car" became a "vehicle" when it no longer worked: justified.

"I pulled my gun and fired my weapon at the suspect. I returned my gun to my holster and..."

The "gun" became a "weapon" when fired; but returned to being a "gun" when no longer being fired: justified.

In our Facebook entry there are two significant changes in language that should be noted:
Step mother to step mom; and the boy to the child.

The boy: "the boy" was seen at school. The "child" is missing. Note that the word "child" is closely lined to child abuse, and points to the risk of abuse.

The "stepmother" accompanied him at school, but the "stepmom" raised him from childhood.

Note that the language should be consistent if it comes from memory, or a change should be justified by a change in reality. The change in language indicates sensitivity, particularly about the "mother" versus "mom" and does not appear to come from memory.
The change from "the boy" to "the child" indicates an awareness of danger in regards to the subject who "accompanied him" and who later did "not" see him come off the bus.

The emotion at the bus showed deception, indicating that there was no surprise or "panic" as the bus did not have Kyron on it.

Conclusion of Analysis: Terri Horman author, or close friend with intimate detailed knowledge of what happened to Kyron. The author knows what happened to Kyron.

Deception Detected.

There are 10 indicators in this short statement.

The analysis of this early statement should have been presented to a Grand Jury indicating the guilt of the author. If police were able to show the entry was made by Terri Horman, it may have been enough for a Grand Jury to indict. Had Horman been arrested at that time, she may have sought a plea bargain and given up the location of Kyron's remains.

Kyron Horman case: Investigation continues, as does restraining order

Posted on July 13, 2011 by Valhall

In a recent interview with Kaine Horman, KATU reports that even though the Task Force working the investigation into Kyron’s disappearance was announced to have scaled back and shifted focus, it is still a very active investigation. Within Kaine’s statements to KATU are some hints at what areas the Task Force is now focusing on.

Kaine states

It’s [The Task Force is] going through communication records of all different forms. You’ve got online; you’ve got cell phones; you’ve got whatever various angles you’ve got on that. And it’s just a matter of time where they get to those last few areas they can’t rule out and hopefully we can get some answers from those areas.
As Desiree Young has referenced numerous times since about November of 2010, there appear to be numerous emails in which Terri Horman openly admitted her disdain for Kyron. Desiree has also referenced how those emails to eluded to the troubles in the Horman marriage and how Terri seemed to blame her woes on Kyron’s presence in the family. Could these “areas” that the Task Force is now focusing on be the avenues that lead to what really happened to Kyron?
And speaking of “in the family”, another event took place in the past 2 weeks that continues to speak even when Terri won’t. Kaine went back to family court successfully requested a 3 months extension on the retraining order that prevents Terri from any visitation time with her daughter, Kiara. The end of June marked one year that Terri Horman has elected to not fight for visitation rights with her daughter so that she doesn’t have to answer questions that could incriminate her in Kyron’s disappearance. The new extension will run out in September, meaning a good 15 months that Terri has chosen silence of mothering time.
Terri’s lawyers did not object to the extension.
Terri – WHERE IS KYRON?

Kyron Horman case: Desiree Young reveals more details in JVM interview

Posted on July 23, 2011 by Valhall

Desiree Young, mother of missing Kyron Horman who vanished on June 4th, 2010 from Skyline Elementary school near Portland, Oregon, granted an interview with Jane Velez-Mitchell on July 21st. In the interview she made several statements that give a bit more insight into how the investigation is going, and what she has learned during the course of the investigation into her missing son.

The full interview can be viewed at the following two links:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xj_YGBrq0Wc
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bd5QnU4mbTY&feature=related
In the interview Desiree makes some statements that are interesting and revealing about what has been learned and done in the investigation so far. While the following statements are not verbatim, they are very close to exactly what Desiree stated in the interview:

  • We know way too much about Terri; what she has been doing, and what she was doing prior to Kyron’s disappearance.
  • We know she [Terri] hates Kyron, just hates him. From her writings she did not like him, and did not want him in her life.
  • Feels she [Terri] probably harmed him.
  • She [Terri] knows what happened that day. I can’t go into details but she knows what happened and where Kyron is and exactly where she went and what she did with him.
  • It is my understanding that the grand jury is still hearing the case and still making decisions on it.
  • Three key areas that need to be searched but haven’t been.

Let’s focus on the first bullet point. If Desiree stated this exactly as she meant to this indicates that they have information of Terri’s activities/communications since Kyron’s disappearance since Desiree’s statement is two part, separating out what they know Terri has been doing versus what she did prior to Kyron’s disappearance. This is interesting. I don’t think many of us have thought Terri was simply sitting in her parents’ home for the past year not communicating with anyone in the outside world; particularly in light of the appearance that she spent a great deal of time online prior to Kyron’s disappearance.
The 4th bullet indicates that there is detailed information pointing to Terri in the involvement of Kyron’s disappearance/murder. The 5th bullet indicates that the grand jury is continuing to give direction in the ongoing investigation and requesting that certain avenues of investigation be pursued.
The last bullet is concerning. Desiree refers to these as “key areas” and expressed disappointment that these important areas have not yet been searched. What is the hold up on these searches? Why have they not been investigated?
Desiree’s interview with JVM renews hope that the investigation into Kyron’s demise is anything but a cold case. When asked if she felt the investigation had been handled properly, Desiree stated that there were certain things that were not investigated in as timely a manner as she would have liked to have seen, but that she felt overall the investigation has been conducted thoroughly.
And, as Desiree stated when asked if she had anything to say to Terri, we will continue to ask…
Terri – WHERE IS KYRON???

Kyron Horman case: Court extends PO for another year

Posted on August 18, 2011 by Valhall

Kaine Horman was reported to have filed for an extension to the protective order in June of this year when the first one was due to expire. The PO prevents Terri Horman from coming around or contacting him or their little girl Kiara. This week a Multnomah County judge approved a one year extension of the protective order until June of 2012.

In his petition to have the protective order extended, Kaine Horman had these things to say to the court:

My son, Kyron, has been missing since June 4, 2010. I do not know where he is, if he has been harmed, or if he is alive. Local and federal law enforcement agencies are currently investigating my wife, respondent/Terri Horman, for her involvement in Kyron’s disappearance. Terri Horman will not cooperate with law enforcement and will not assist in the search for Kyron. I believe that Terri Horman is responsible for Kyron’s disappearance.

After Kyron went missing and the investigation began, law enforcement officials informed me that my wife had attempted to hire our landscaper to kill me for money. I obtained a restraining order against her to protect myself and my daughter Kiara. Respondent/Terri Horman is a substantial safety threat to me and to my family. She has manifested a desire to physically harm myself and my family, and I fear she will continue to try to harm myself and to (sic) my family.
Terri Horman was served with the new protective order on July 14th. It had been previously reported that the extension Kaine filed for was for 3 months.
